  1. Hi Lello, I totally understand that you
  2. Ok, help us out.....what changed? Is he bringing it to you in person? Show us the pics when you get it.
  3. That looks really great. Well done! You're talking about reflection of the crystal but to be honest, it looks like it got a Chiefs AR treatment. Just interested, how do you apply Tritium? Is it the same at normal or do have to wear gloves and masks or something?
  4. Dial is no problem. Hands will fit the "old" slow beat movement or a swiss eta 7750. The crystal I have no idea. If I were you, I'll take the dial and hands and send your rep crystal to Chief. It will look better than the gen one
  5. Thanks for all the kind words guys Someone asked me if I was nuts, experimenting with an already great watch. Of course I did take some measurements before taking out the Dremel. (by the way, I think it's great living on the edge ) There is an average space of 0.96 mm between the copper area where the date wheel sits on and the edge of the movement where the dial sits on (see pic). The date wheel is 0.38 mm thick so that leaves a gap of 0.58 mm from the top of the date wheel to the bottom of the dial. After gluing the extra disk on the existing date wheel, the total thickness increased from 0.38 mm to 0.80 mm. This means that the cap changed from 0.58 mm to 0.16 mm. It seems not much in figures, but it's quite a improvement when you look at it. I can't imagine that the cap on the gen is smaller than this. There needs to be some room for the date wheel to change without touching the dial. If you have some experience with working on watches, its quite an easy fix. I just hope that the dealers are willing to help you with supplying the date wheels.
  6. Yep, the PR indicator is static. There are also other models with working PR indicators, but they don't look as accurate as this model.
  7. We all know the biggest flaw (beside the strap) of the BP. You can have a gen dial, relumed hands, gen crown, gen strap, gen deployment and a moved PR hand to 7, if we (specialists) look at it, the first thing we see is the recessed date wheel. It was bothering me so I took my tool kit again and fixed the problem. What did I do: I had one extra BP movement and took out the date wheel I cut off the teeth so I ended up with a circle with the numbers. I glued it on the existing date wheel and voila problem solved. The date wheel is 0.38mm thick and after gluing it, the original date wheel got 0.42mm thicker. (Guess the thickness of the glue is 0.04mm) There is just enough room for it to move without toughing the dial. So everything functions as normal. Pretty easy fix which took me less than 1 hour. I was planning to do a complete photo shoot but the batteries died after the second shot. Luckily I have a fast charger but after the batteries were charged again, I was done with the job. Any way, it is easy so not much photo's needed I would say. Movement without date wheel: Glued date wheel: As you can see I marked the leg above the 15. I did this because this was the centre of the 15 on the original date wheel. So no problems with lining up in the centre of the window. (don't look at the dirt. I washed it off of course ) result:
  8. I think this is the best way to go. If it doesn't work and they come back to you, just do as Corgi says. I just think they want to scare the [censored] out of you so that you won't order again you nasty boy! They have more important thinks to do I believe.... Any way...good luck with it!
  9. Its the 28 bpm one. If someone offered me the slow beat one, I would have installed a gen 7750 movement in it. Anyway, problem seems to be solved. my new best friend resh4 is helping me out..... Also Peter and Andrew reached me a helping hand. This is why I love this community so much, there is always someone to help you when you need it. Thanks for all the help and PM's I got guy's! Sorry, the gen dial won't be on the sale list soon. Of course I'll post pics when it's finished.
  10. This is the best 28 I've ever seen. It looks great man! wear it well.
  11. Thanks. I will send them a mail. Hope they will help me!
  12. Do you know the feeling that you have too many projects going on at the same time? I'm working on 6 watches right now and my bench is getting a little disorganized. Because of this, I'm screwed
  13. I think there is nothing wrong with your crown. It's the crown tube that's the problem. The thread is too weak because the tube is very thin. Afther a while you can't screw it in anymore. If have three here with this problem..... Anyone else?
  14. It was pretty tough to get this one......I'm pretty happy with it though!
  15. I have bought a 3717 from one of our members and it appears to be the V3 model. (lume only on the 4 markers + 28 bpm + good double AR + recessed subdials) With some luck, I have found a brand new gen 3717 dial , so lets see how good the new model is. The first thing I notice is that the rep dial has a really matte finsh while the gen has a more satin finish. Because of this, the rep looks black and the gen looks dark grey. I think they are the same colour though. The next thing is that the colour of the markers on the subdials and the logo is much whiter on the gen. This is the same problem with the big pilot by the way. One other difference is that the subdials are more recessed on the gen than on the rep. Even though its better than the V2, it not recessed enough. (I never saw the V1 model so I don't no how that one is) The 3 hour markers at 3, 6 and 9 are also a little too wide but I wonder if you will be able to notice it. The Lume is great. I really don't see any difference in quality for the first 5 minutes. After that the gen will still be a little visible and the rep is dead. There is a little color difference in the lume though. The rep is greener than the gen which has the C1 lume. As expected the size is exactly the same. Even the dial-feet fit without any problem. How about the rest of the V3 model: It has really strong AR. In my opinion it's way too blue/purple and still looks like a mirror Beside that it's really noticeable, it's even tougher to get it off..... It took me more that 1 hour on a powerful buffing machine to get it off.... what the..... It normally takes me a few minutes with a Dremel! Finally I got it off and now it's on its way to Chief for some real magic. Lume on the hands is great. The rotor is really noisy but nothing that can be fixed. The date wheel has black smudges over the white numbers????? Conclusion: I think the dial is really close and the lume is good when you compare it with standard rep lume. The "thick" markers at 3, 6 and 9 are really not a problem. The AR is too much. If you're getting it, what should you do: 1: get it a new AR coating 2: replace the day/date wheels 3: if you have it with a leather strap, replace it for a nice croc one. (TWB ETC) Things which are not really necessary: 1: relume 2: fixing the markers 3: replacing the buckle for a gen one. Here are the pics. Enjoy!
  16. You should absolutely flatten the pin, you can't mess it up and it will look soo much better! Where are you getting the gears from. I need them for my 183 too but couldn't find them. Polishing the teeth myself is probably not a good idea
  17. Hi Mickey, Great watch. 2 mods I would do. Flatten the CG pin and give your crystal to Rocketeer so that it can be send to Chief next week. The strap looks really good!
