  1. That sucks. I posted a review of a tag link rep a few days ago in the knowledge base and now I can't view it unless I pay up. A death of a site is always when they start charging for certain sections. joe public gets bored as all the expertise is in a hidden section and before you know it there's only a small group of people left wondering why the site isn't popular anymore. why would i want to get movies and music here too? I'll go to a movie and music bootleg site if I want that. one where you dont pay!
  2. I have this watch and wouldn't recommend it at all! The build quality is very poor on it (buttons wobble and the glass face isn't even set right), the caseback is the wrong (making the watch a good few mm thinner than the gen) and the original strap was so bad it was very sharp and wouldn't stay closed. Andrew sent me out a replacement strap which was off a 7750 version. this didn't fit so I needed to take apart the whole strap back to the end links and replace it piece by piece. Even then, a ball bearing fell out of it 2 days later and a third strap needed to be sent out. The 7750 strap is much better than the original but this also pops open when you move your wrist in a certain way. Despite the new strap it still sounds awful since the end links and the watch case itself is hollow and makes a cheap noise when you shake your wrist. The quartz movement is quite good though. the chrono works well and feels solid etc, but tag do not do a quartz version of this watch so it's pure fantasy. Also I did see a gen version in an airport AD the other day and sorry to say the watch did not look anything like the rep at all. the features were all there but the actual shape of the watch was all wrong. the rep is quite flat yet the gen is quite rounded in comparison. Still wear the watch though as it cost
  3. Wise words and exactly my philiosophy as well. Will report back with some photos when I get it!
  4. sorry mate, doesn't even come close. but to each his own *goes back to dreaming about a nice daytona rep.
  5. When the 7750 came out it was very much a watch of the moment and there was high demand for it. That probably caused the premium for it. Just ordered it now from Andrew (he was cheaper) so I will let you know what its like in the next week or so. Think I might be the first person on the boards to order one by the looks of it, as the watch was only added to their catalogs in the last week or two and I can't find anyone talking about the 21j version. Unlike me to do this as I normally wait it out for reviews but at $108 I don't think you can go wrong.
  6. Hi, yes it only a faux chronograph. The 6 sub dial sweeps along with the main second hand. By the looks of it the 12 and 9 subdials don't move. They are labelled month and year (!) instead of minutes and hours like the gen /7750 version. The GMT function works fine though. Don't mind this at all though really when its a whopping $250 cheaper and supposedly has a similar case and strap as the 7750! Plus my 7750 make me nervous too that the chrono will break and the whole watch will be useless (as has happened before) so this is ideal really! Gonna take the leap i think.
  7. Just browsing a few sites and I came across this... Mile Miglia GMT Chrono SS White Asia 21J http://www.pc-80108.com/cp10138-mile-migli...ing-p-4701.html This is one of my favorite watches and the 7750 version was one i dreamt of having. Since this one is 1/3rd of the price almost, I am very tempted to say the least. Josh says its similar to the 7750 case and bracelet and I couldn't care less about the chronos at this price. What do you think the quality is like? I do have another cheap rep though which is a quartz tag heuer link which is pretty poor to be honest and I wouldn't want to make the same mistake again!!!!!!!!! I have also heard some Chopards have very loud rotors though Has anyone had any experiences with chopard 21j's or this watch in particular? thanks in advance.
  8. didn't think it looked too bad!
  9. I'll take that as a hell no, get out of here!
  10. I know some purists will hate me for even suggesting it but has anyone ever done this? do it fit and does anyone have a picture? they're my 2 favorite watch / bracelet but i've never seen them together.
  11. damn those daytonas are nice. all 4 on this page are gleaming. what models are they and where did you get them from may I ask?
  12. if anyone could point me in the direction of some rep sunglasses, I would be a happy man!
  13. Hi, looking at a SS DD for my next rep but i'm torn between the standard bezel and the faux diamond encrusted one. How hard is it to swap the bezels over on these watches? I'm hoping its a lot easier than a sub due to the fact the the bezel doesn't turn. if its good news I'll order one DD with 2 bezels and swap them every few months for a fresh look!
  14. nice guide. exactly what i was after secs @ 9 is my choice. Reliable, working chronos and only a small percentage would realise the difference. I guess the fatness of the case and the wrong bezel angle is just as noticeable on the secs @ 6 as the spaced sub dials on the secs @ 9. just wish they would have labeled the secs @ 9 version with a 0-60 dial instead of a 0-12. Can you get this version from anyone else but silix??
  15. Does anyone have a picture of the case back of a gen tag link? I have a rep of the 2006 edition but its a cheap ($120) quartz rep and i think the case back is completely wrong. My caseback is completely flat while on some reps it is raised in the middle and therefore increases the depth of the watch a good few mm's. The depth of my watch is 10mm which seems very little and the watch is very flat on my wrist! Can't find a pic of the gen to compare. Also if it is a wrong caseback and I got my hands on a correct rep one, what are the chances it will fit my watch?
  16. thanks. Will I be able to buy a strap which has good durablilty and is an exact copy of the original? My deployment strap is more than I could wish for! Where should I start looking? thanks again
  17. i bought a breitling bentley at xmas time with 2 straps. the ss and a brown leather one. The leather strap is gorgeous but despite only wearing it a few times, one side is already starting to fade and wear quite noticably. This is most probably caused by rubbing on my desk at work although I have only worn it about 10 times to work. Is this normal? Although the strap is from a high end rep rather than a cheap rep I am unsure if its leather. Can I put anything on it or am I limited to only wearing the leather strap for special occasions?
  18. Just looked at my Bentley and 2 screws have disappeared as well as half a link. I just spent the last 20 mins staring at every piece of flooring I have been near today (which included walking the stairs to the 15th floor) but no luck. I think I have some spares at home but what can I do to make sure it doesn't happen again? I suppose I could superglue them in but this would cause problems if I ever wanted to make the bracelet bigger or smaller. Also in a worst case scenario, will andrew send out replacements?
  19. anyone??? I need to order one today so I really value anyone's comments!
  20. Since I've been addicted to this and other replica sites for the last couple of months, it only seemed right that i get my brother a watch for xmas. He had a brief look around some of the main dealers sites earlier on today and chose this watch as one he'd definately like. http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...products_id=346 He already has a genuine auto watch so when I told him this was a quartz he didn't mind at all. It seems good for the price with the full working chrono, but I thought I'd put a post up here just in case its a pile of [censored]! He's not fussed at all on how accurate the watch is (to the real thing) as long as it keeps good time and is something fresh. Whatdayareckon??
  21. I haven't but will do now. Josh and andrew just seem the more mainstream dealers across these types of forums. My thread should have really been titled "Asian auto 21j or Asian ETA 2813" though! EDIT: Editted!!
  22. Hi, Looking to get a submariner for xmas and I'm stuck between Josh's and Andrews Beginmariners. They are both the same price but are slightly different (i think). Josh's is an Asia Eta 2813 - http://www.pc-80108.com/rlss10009-black-be...ing-p-2303.html Andrew's is an Asia Auto 21J but is waterproofed to 50m - http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...roducts_id=2248 Both come to the same price with shipping. From some searches I've done the Asian 21j is best to steer clear of but there have been mixed reviews on the 2813 Eta also. Which would you guys choose if you had to? Both sellers have good service so I'm not fussed on choosing it on their merits, just on the watches themselves. Many Thanks to anyone who helps.
  23. Thanks again guys. As regards to the quartz theory, I'm already a step ahead of you. I'm definately ordering the $108 tag link chrono quartz watch from andrew and I was enquiring about the bentley as something to order with it. Yes the tag isn't an auto and is in fact a fantasy watch since although tag do make quartz watches, not in the link chrono range - but, for all the reasons above it's much more appealling than anything else. Cheap, reliable, hard wearing chrono and people would be hard pushed to realise the discrepancies. As for the bentley, I'm even more confused than ever! They only make it in asian auto and not quartz in the cheapos though. I spoke to river but he only does them for $370+. Really out of my range. Andrew does them for $300 but I'm honestly still thinking of going for the cheap version and asking andrew to upgrade it if it sucks. I've also posted a few watch requests in the trade sections but no luck as of yet.
