  1. Not sure I like the idea of people being pillioried for what's a voluntary contribution. To be honest that's the type of thing that would make me NOT want to contribute if I already hadn't. If admin says they have a shortfall I'll be happy to contribute some more according to what I can afford.
  2. I don't like the idea of being a 'VIP'- we're all important. However I'm quite happy to contribute towards the running costs of the board. I think it's a great place and will continue to support it.
  3. Genuine Monaco or a 'super-rep'? Monaco every time.
  4. I'd just like to point out that some of us choose to be 'non-VIP' members and yet contribute as much as if we were...........
  5. I just noticed this is a sticky at the top of every forum and I still missed it. How about making it flash and 10 times bigger for those of us who filter everything out other than the stuff we're focussing on? You could also add a splash screen during the login process. I can't believe more people won't contribute if they are aware.
  6. Count me in, email sent waiting for reply. I'd like to add maybe this thread should be a sticky at the top of every forum on the site. I nearly missed it despite visiting over the past few days. Maybe other people did as well?
  7. If any of the 'cartel' supporters want their watches waterproofing or servicing I can offer the exact same service at half the price.
  8. That's the problem for me. As I said on the other thread I've had exceptional service from Josh and never been lied to myself. However I can't accept the fact such bare faced lies have been told to other members of this community and as a result I'm voting with my business as should everyone else according to their point of view. For me this business is based on trust and I don't have any in the 'cartel' dealers. Game over. I'd rather buy secondhand genuines if this is the way the rep game pans out. Thankfully there are other people out there who can feed my rep habit without telling me lies...........
  9. I'd add another $200 and buy a used genuine Omega.
  10. I'm voting with my business as should everybody else according to their take on this issue. Despite having received very good service from Josh I don't like the idea of dealers lying and I don't like the concept of a cartel. Shame as if they hadn't behaved in this way they'd have a customer for life.
  11. I had 'above the call of duty' service from Josh on a 'pre-cartel' Exp I I bought last year and was considering buying more from him until I had the time to read a bit more widely on the forum. My question now is why are these dealers still being allowed to advertise on this site if they won't come forward and defend themselves against these serious allegations?
  12. Gutted. I thought this was going to be something lighthearted and funny. Now I read it I feel quite upset. Not as upset as Ken though. Get well soon my colonial chum.
  13. The seamaster I'm posting here had the more accurate bracelet with pins (almost exactly the same as my gen) and ETA2824. Sadly it was stolen in a burglary, not so sadly the insurance company paid out for a genuine despite my writing 'REPLICA' clearly on the form. However have you considered that you can buy a genuine from ebay for 2.5 times the cost of your MBW? That's exactly what I did.
  14. He obviously isn't a regular or that knowledgeable if he's trying to scam TTK out of a PO. Gotta be a noobie. Ban, name and shame is the minimum that should happen here.
  15. Why not smoke a big fat bong of crack and forget all about the watch?
  16. You know what they say Big watch, small d............
  17. You gotta remember people here aren't 'normal' we're super-natural............
  18. What I'm saying is that reps DO hold their value well-if you pick the right ones but that I'd rather own genuine pieces than replicas if they only cost twice the price. Also a used genuine watch that has done most of it's depreciating is a commodity that's more easily saleable outside specialist boards like this. Don't get me wrong I'm still a fan of reps when they are priced right- ultimate PO at $250 for example but when you start getting to and surpassing the $400 mark the logic is starting to stretch a little....
  19. I'm sinistral and wear my watch on the right hand.
  20. Some people have used a latex/rubber glove pressed hard against the back to remove the case back. Didn't work for me with the ultimate PO but did with the 4th gen version I had.
  21. First of all I'm not saying reps aren't great. As far as I'm concerned something like a noobmariner gives a fair amount of the bang for a small proportion of the bucks. However when we are getting to the point where I could choose to buy a secondhand gen for a few times the price of a 'super-rep' I have to ask myself the question would I be better off with the gen. As for our used reps here secondhand prices seem to be running at a similar level to 'collectors' from our EU members. I think I'm one of the few who gave a 25% discount on used but good condition watches when I came to sell.......
  22. Today I'm a Sinner
  23. A useful link maybe? pmwf.com/Watches/WatchSchool/WS 14 How to Resize Common Bracelets/WS 14 How to Resize Bracelets.htm#Split%20pin%20bracelets The split pin section saved me buying a hammer as I used the 'plastic lighter' method instead! edit because for some reason the anonymiser was trashing the link just cut n paste into a new browser window with the missing www
  24. I sold a few watches on here and tried to be 100% honest about them. I'd expect everyone else to do the same, any less would be, how can I put it, exposing yourself as a person of uncertain parentage. We're a community here- act accordingly.
  25. Sadly these prices are part of the reason I started buying used genuines. It hardly makes sense owning a few reps when for the same price I can spend time tracking down a good deal on a second hand watch and then sell it when I get bored and start all over again. When you consider I recently bought an Omega 2531.80 for $780 which I'll easily make my money back on when I'm bored with it the wisdom of so called 'super reps' is marginal. Unless of course you're talking about a watch you could never possibly afford to own even second hand like a Royal Oak..........
