How long did you leave it in for? 8 minutes at 230 C, then 4 minutes 250 C ... The hands: directly under the heat of the grill ... 20 minutes 250 C btw, what is the case and coin trick? I would have figured 230 degrees F would have been hot enough. 20 years ago the US was supposed to convert to the metric system- by and large it still hasn't happened to this day. I wish it were more widely available; it has the best dial of any <$200 vintage Explorer. And your "aged" effect is still among the best I've seen, even after one year!
