Mickey Padge Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 Not too bad, should be able to get them for less elsewhere too I bet
Mardo Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 $268-$278. Not too rich but we have no idea of the quality. It will be interesting to see the reviews of these things once they start hitting the market.
watchgal Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Oh goody! I just sold my gen 48 last week... so I've been hoping to find some rep 40mm PAMs. I got a silix 49 delivered yesterday and it's a bit rough. Most noticeable issue is the lug holes are drilled crooked! The holes sit right on the edge of the upper part of the lug!
Mardo Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 These could be an awesome rep, hopefully they will get it right and pay attention to details.
rangers158 Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 The old ones are better than this new ones. Especially the dial. The hour markers are too near the rehaut. Date window looks bad as well. Best to snag the old defunct version if you want one of these.
denisegold Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 As always, good luck finding a old version. Most who have them are holding them.
takashi Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 but the Ti case on 168... The old one is wrong.
PaulVanDyk Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Ti case is a definite plus for these DW can be changed - Leo (over at RG) is working on that one Markers while somewhat closer to the rehaut when compared to gen are still acceptable (IMHO) especially when considering that this is a 40mm version so the difference would be minute someone should take one for the team and do a review
Mickey Padge Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 someone should take one for the team and do a review Well volunteered, you even have the right forum name........
PaulVanDyk Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Well volunteered, you even have the right forum name........ if only i wasn't so broke i'd do it already LOL....i knew that was coming need to change this stupid name, didnt think this would become such an addiction when was registering to this forum
Mickey Padge Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 Hehe, I know how you feel, I am skint too I am sure someone will pick one up soon......
THXuk Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Is the black 168 dial/silver sub dials a fantasy? I think its the nicest one, certainly the most modern. I also had the old 7750 40mm version (bought from Homer in UK back in the day) and just like others, regret selling it.
PaulVanDyk Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 you mean this one? PAM 052 - Unique Edition of 500 pieces - this one would be great since no need to worry about DWs IMHO both Regatta and AMG suck ballz there are a number of better 40mm chronos that i hope will follow this initial re-launch (including the one above) like PAM 189 - Unique Edition - 200 pieces PAM 072 - I especially like these last 2 PAM 060 - Unique Edition - 300 pieces
watchgal Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 This thread is throwing a spanner in the works... I have the cash to buy a nice vintage gen DJ but now I'm thinking I should get one of each rep 40mm PAM! :) :)
THXuk Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) no, the black face with red chrono needle, and the number font is different. I have searched the internet and not been able to find an original varient. By thxuk at 2009-07-08 Edited July 8, 2009 by THXuk

EDIT: Some of Panerai's nicest contemporary models have been in the 40mm size! Looking at the back catalogue of special editions is drool worthy! Love the red hand
THXuk Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) Many thanks although now i have to add it to the list! such a shame they did not put the crown gard lever the right way round Edited July 8, 2009 by THXuk
rek001 Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 I have one of the old 168 Regatta's on steel bracelet and it wears beautifully on a 6.5" wrist. I've been studying Joshua's website and the specs for the chronographs say the bracelet is all SS. With the case being Ti and no Ti in the bracelet, the case and bracelet don't match well, the Ti lugs against the SS bracelet does not look right.
Mickey Padge Posted July 8, 2009 Author Report Posted July 8, 2009 I would wear it on a leather strap of some kind anyway, I really dislike the PAM steel bracelets, horrible things......
PaulVanDyk Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 I really dislike that AMG PAM. Something about that red chrono hand and numbers 1 - 11 being not regular panerai font takes away from the classiness of the watch, makes it look cheap IMHO They should however rep the new style bracelet already - it is a LOT better than the current one
Guest shura110 Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 I like the 051. After the dw and the cyclops change it's a 99% close to the gen.
takashi Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 I have to disagree that the new style bracelet is better than the old one. I have seen many on the gen (newer version that is). It just doesn't look as well crafted and well blended onto the watch as what the old bracelet did. The new bracelet is a single piece construction on each link, leaving it not so possible for Ti/SS combo.
Noel Fleischer Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 i have an older regatta 40mm rep i got from a scam site 2-3 years ago. it works well (abit fast) but otherwise looks quite nice on my gen bracelet for an old 050. sorry for dup pix
