JohnG Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Recently I discovered homages when I made a couple of purchases at Getatwatch Co. (see my thread here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=100795&hl=. The price, relative to the quality, was FAR below that of reps. And suddenly I discovered true freedom from the chains of reps: no more obsessing over silly little tells you can only see when blown up twenty times on a large monitor, no more "what clever thing do I say if I get called out?", no more fretting over customs seizures.... not to mention ARTISTIC freedom. Anyone who doesn't know what I mean should look at Flavor Flav's creations - rep cases used as the basis for something NEW and UNIQUE. I discovered "dial sterility" too - the simple elegance of an uncorrupted surface, free of advertising for an already obscenely rich manufacturer... I don't wear shoes stamped "Johnston & Murphey" on the top of the toe, why should I be forced to promote a product I am TRYING to rip off????!!! No, I decided, reps, where ever possible must be superceded by homages. Freedom, clarity, simplicity, economy, they have it ALL. Sometimes I will forced to buy a rep (no Ingy homage yet), but the range of possibilities with those homages already extant is wide indeed. As I discovered over the past week as FOUR packages arrived on my door step... Behold.... 1. 2. 3. 4.
KinCaidk Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I love Homage watches. I just looooooooooove them!
bob bean Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Some really nice pieces there John, onwards with the rise of the homage. bob
greg_r Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 As I've said elsewhere - you've found some great watches there, John.. Certainly a much better buy than a lot of cheaper reps
KinCaidk Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I think you should have you own subforum John. RWG.cc needs a Homage subforum... maybe even a Homage sales section too.

RobbieG Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 JohnG a gift for all forums? The only thing more absurd than that would be to say RobbieG is an RWG treasure or something. But then again, every family needs a Black Sheep - or two...

hiker01 Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Well, whatever it is???????? here's my contribution to the Homage Home: and more to come...............................
Bazz Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Thanks, I found their site from your last post and have number 2 on order. I also ordered an extra dial in the hope I can split it like a PAM dial so I can paint it black to give it a cleaner look and get rid of that parnis text!
fotoman Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 very cool. I have created some watch project custom builds, and i have always loved homer's tourby because he didn't try to brand it. Having said all that, i'm soon to announce my "signature" series of pen, - but the onlyone getting my sig will be my version, cause i'm sure you guys don'tt want a pen wiith my sig on it.
omni Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Gee, I almost bought an Invicta once, the king of homage watches when they started.
