Rule No. 1 being that no matter what it is, if it's the most expensive solution it's the one I like the most (same exception as above applies). Val. For example, some complications sell for $200K, but they are "made by hand and take several thousand man-hours to produce". OK, so one watchmaker spends a full working year building one watch. How much dos he get paid for that year? How much of the rest of the money goes to advertising & intermediate profits? Gen mfgrs. hate the rep industry because it shows how ridiculously overpriced the gens are. Screw the logos and branding; buy a good homage that is made with a true ETA (or other) mvmt. and you've got a watch that is as good as (or in some cases better than) the gen. Take a gen Rolex & swap the movement for a good-quality non-Rolex one. It'll look the same, tell time the same, and might even require LESS service. It's all hype and brand posturing, IMHO.
