freddy333 Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 The watch used as the initial test bed for the powdered graphite treatment was returned to me tonight. Oddly, not due to any mechanical problems, but, instead, because its owner simply tired of it. Not only is this infamously unreliable Asian Rube Goldberg chronograph still keeping good time 2 years hence, but, more importantly, its previously wandering hour totalizer seems to have corrected itself. Or, at least, it has not wandered from its (12 o'clock) null mark in the 5-6 hours the watch has been residing on my wrist So, it seems that what I initially thought might be a very temporary band-aid for ailing secs @ 6 Daytonas has turned out to be a practical & long-term remedy.
Toadtorrent Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 That's great news...maybe I should reconsider an IWC Porto afterall...hmmmm....

gioarmani Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Cool! The one I treated well over a year & a half ago is still also running strong--mind you this only gets wrist time about 4 or 5 days months:
FxrAndy Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Well that is good news, the graphite treatment is a success i would say after that trial.
robertk Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 I was prepared to do mine as well, but it is still keeping great time after 9 mos and chrono's work perfectly.

It's very nice to know that this mod does work!
