HauteHippie Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Hi all, Does anyone out there question the authenticity of this tritium 1665 dial? Thanks in advance!
HauteHippie Posted February 27, 2010 Author Report Posted February 27, 2010 Actually, I'm sure it's genuine... But for some reason I don't like the dial print. I think I'm going to hold out for one that looks like this: Such a big variation between dials!!
Justasgood Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Different iteration on the cased dial. I kinda prefere the slanted F in the ft designation.
alligoat Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 The dial looks fine to me also. It's not signed on the back, but wasn't Rolex using three dial makers at that point in time- Singer, Beyeler and Stern? VRF has a good dial section, you might look there. My guess is that the dial that you're holding out for is earlier than the one you first posted, but that's just my guess.
HauteHippie Posted February 27, 2010 Author Report Posted February 27, 2010 I think so too, alligoat... I just like the look of the smaller, crisper print on the earlier dial for some reason.

The one I like happens to be the mark1 dial.... probably not the easiest to find. Hrm.
panerai153 Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 You are right, Mark I is pretty hard to come by and pricy in really nice condition. As alligoat suggested, the Vintage Rolex Forum has dials for sale all the time. Unfortunately, the prices are crazy. Dials that look like someone dug them up in their garden sell for hundreds of dollars!!Look around, you may find just what you'r looking for. Steve Mulholland sometimes sells groups of dials on TRF and VRF.
JoJo35 Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Chief, Is that a washed dial? From your pictures it's hard to tell if there's any tritium on the dial
marsupilami Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Relume? yes. got the dial really cheap but showing a really bad lume attempt of the owner. after another relume it´s still far from perfect now but I can live with it.
