Martyd3 Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 It was very cool Much better than I thought it would be. I am thinking about getting one when the 3G version is available. Marty
Guest avitt Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Is it the equivalent of surfing on a large scale iPhone, or does it offer something more?
Martyd3 Posted April 4, 2010 Author Report Posted April 4, 2010 Is it the equivalent of surfing on a large scale iPhone, or does it offer something more? It uses Safari. It was fast ... just like surfing on my laptop, only better. http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/safari.html
Martyd3 Posted April 4, 2010 Author Report Posted April 4, 2010 Better in what way? I liked to touch sensitve screen and how it lets you move around on the page you are viewing. You really need to try it to understand what I am talking about.
panerai153 Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 They sound intriguing, but the price!! WOW, I got an Email from Apple today, the 64GB 3G model is like 899.00 USD. That's a lot of money for a device to surf the web, get emails and run Apple apps. No way I could justify paying that amount for one of those. I'll have to stick to my Iphone and my computer at home. Now if it was a watch... Well that would be a different story.
redwatch Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Add Wormhole Remote to the iPad and then you've got something usable!!!
Martyd3 Posted April 4, 2010 Author Report Posted April 4, 2010 Add Wormhole Remote to the iPad and then you've got something usable!!! No $hit, is this real? It was introduced on April 1st
redwatch Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 No $hit, is this real? It was introduced on April 1st Go to their website found here. As long as you have Snow Leopard it appears to work!
modelizer Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 I hear that just like the iPhone it has problems with flash (lack of mouse over functions and more) which IMO is a huge weakness on a device which one of its main purposes is surfing the web these days..
jchurch Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 doesn't play flash videos on websites... goes to the site to download flash and then says something about how it can't download the file. I tried to sync up my palm pro via bluetooth to use it for the data and no dice. However with things like the palm pre plus which act as a wi-fi access point the 3G version for like 100 more isn't really needed. Especially if you already have a smart phone with a dataplan. Why pay for two data plans lol. Now I am just waiting for sprint to get me hooked up with a phone that acts like an access point. till then it can replace my first gen ipod touch.
fakemaster Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 LOL I couldn't take anymore after the first three sentences. It was like Shatner on Lithum. Sometimes...you just want to.....be working....but not....here....there....which is not ......here.....but there...... Seriously though I wonder when wireless web will ever be fast enough for practical application ie replacing DSL or Broadband.
Jkay Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Wifi connections are far far faster than consumer cable or DSL connections. Do you mean 3G?
Blobzor Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 ipod added something iphone added something ipad.. well i'm still thinking about what it might add, except a "hey, i have money to buy whatever [censored] i want , LOOK LOOK"
fakemaster Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Wifi is just a short range transmitter connected to a wired connection. I am talking about a true wireless internet connection that would allow you to replace your Broadband or DSL at home.
TeeJay Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 Wifi is just a short range transmitter connected to a wired connection. I am talking about a true wireless internet connection that would allow you to replace your Broadband or DSL at home. I'd say within five years, if not sooner
redwatch Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 For those interested, Wormhole Remote is definitely for real. Just installed it, but no iPad to play with. However, I did find a good review about it here
Eton Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 That's sweet...I'll probably pick one up once the 3G is available as well! Another toy to surf RWG
Panther917 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 If Apple's past is any indication....The price will be cut in half by Christmas and have had 2 software updates....I love me some Apple but will probably hold off for 6-8mos. More excited about the Iphone coming to Verizon this fall.
lukeaiston Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Got myself an iPad on release day, it's fantastic Much better than I first thought or whatever anyone says I highly recommend it, and lack of flash is not much of an annoyance, most popular website now render video in HTML5 so they play within iPad's browser And pictures look unbelievable, especially all of your wristshots Luke P.S. I'm surfing RWG on it now
