100 Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 Almost done.. Need case refinishing and a coating... There were a lot of works needed to fit the OEM dial to the movt as well as fitting the movt into the OEM case. But that means nothing for our expert up north. Cannot find OEM handset. Don't like the paint on DSN handset. Tried polished Ultimate handset from 164, don't like it. Decided to brushed the DSN handset, I think it matches well with the brushed stick marker on the dial. Install OEM Tritium small second hand since I like a little color difference the handset. Comments or insults are welcome Enjoy
Drulee Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 I love it So is the OEM case set an 091 case with titanium body, brushed SS bezel and CG? And how about a profile shot?
100 Posted April 17, 2010 Author Report Posted April 17, 2010 Except the crown, everything is SS. OEM auto Ti case almost impossible to find. Beside, I am not shooting for 1:1 replication, too hard to do. This built is not accurate at all. I'll get some case picture tomorrow. No more daylight here and I don't have light box
wheaton26 Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 amazing ... congratulations! where did the datewheel come from?
100 Posted April 18, 2010 Author Report Posted April 18, 2010 C, The DW was from Ultimate 164. Finally, after 10 months, it's mounted on something instead of inside parts box lol. Thanks to you for the dial
wheaton26 Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 it looks great buddy! i've been wondering where you've been and if anything was happening with this project? oddly enough, i just got the ultimate 164 last week. lol. all the best.
babola Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 Wow...that date now looks almost bigger than cardinal numerals on the dial - great magnification, mate! Hide it, don't let Panerai see that DW, they may get all sorts of new ideas
100 Posted April 18, 2010 Author Report Posted April 18, 2010 Thanks guys. It's not finished yet though. Just too exciting not to share

Really nice job you're doing there Yes... the hands are quite special on the 91, the are sprayed with something... The crystal also has a very special AR coating, like no other model... almost a purple, but will change color depending on the angle I think due to the refection off the anthracite, which is beautiful stuff! Here's a shot of mine:
100 Posted April 18, 2010 Author Report Posted April 18, 2010 Beautiful watch sir. Wished I can find the gen 091 hands.... They are undeed very special.
fishgodeep Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Very impressive 100 ....good luck with the project FGD
NoobyPanFan Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 I would think that a few coats of satin varnish/lacquer would help to duplicate the Gen hand texture...
100 Posted April 25, 2010 Author Report Posted April 25, 2010 I love it So is the OEM case set an 091 case with titanium body, brushed SS bezel and CG? And how about a profile shot? Here ya go with a couple lume pictures as well
Drulee Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 That CG is actually not accurate for the 091, as this model was only a D or E series, but the beefy CG still looks great Besides you already said you are doing it to your own preferred specs, which makes this one truly unique Envious of that gen dial though
100 Posted April 27, 2010 Author Report Posted April 27, 2010 Yep, it's completely wrong, almost everything on this piece is wrong to the original 091. The CG is the rollerball type also Heck, the caseback is the shadow caseback of the Pam 090.
