I'm tracking a package from guangzhou and this is the latest:

2010-05-20 21:08:00 GUANGZHOU Posting

2010-05-20 22:12:00 GUANGZHOU Despatch from Sorting Center

2010-05-21 00:15:00 GUANGZHOU Arrival at Sorting Center

2010-05-21 01:15:00 GUANGZHOU Handed over to Customs

I've tracked many packages from china and have never seen that message. I'm definately a bit worried. I've got 2 replica items in the package. What does this mean?

Everytime I get an item from Josh - for example - it goes straight to customs when it gets here to CONUS. It may spend anywhere from two to five days there and then it continues on its way to me. I don't know where you are receiving your item, but, I can imagine that the process is similar.

Nearly everything reads handed over to customs these days, it is a normal part of the delivery process.

It does not mean in any way that they are actually checking your goods just that it is passing through their department.

If they do in fact open your goods there will be further notification of this.

Hehe, I started a topic like this for my first order - seriously - I think it was entitled exactly the same!

Everyone^^ is right. Here in Australia you will get it (handed to customs) twice unless you live in Sydney.

So, it will be "handed to customs" at the major port in your in country, and probably then again as it reaches your State (province, area etc).

You'll have it in a few days!

Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply. It is very appreciated.

It is being held in China customs, where it was originally sent from. Never left the country. I live in USA.

What worries me is that this is the FIRST time I received that message. I have been sent about 20 items from china via EMS and none of those have ever been 'handed over to customs.'

They 'arrive in sorting center', then 'depart sorting center' within hours. when they arrive here in USA, the tracking does state 'arrival US customs', I then receive in the next 2-3 days.

Well, once again I 'jumped the gun.' False alarm, no problems, it was released from customs, and was dispatched to USA.

Thank you everyone who assured me it was no problem. I actually did relax about it, then pleasantly suprised when it was released. It's weird how I had never gotten that status before. Now I know. And anyone else who may encounter that message.
