  1. Sir, Thank you very much for your response. Has the policy with regards to dealers changed since I've been gone? I remember that, in the past, the "Cartel" - for example - would post on this forum often. I'd welcome any other reflections on this watch. I currently have a very well modded PAM 111H with tremendous lume and that's a definite keeper. Any recommendations on what PAM rep is a great buy at this time? Again, your comments are very much appreciated.
  2. Gentlemen, First off, I'd like to collectively thank you all. I've been collecting watches since 2006. My wonderment for watches began with my curiosity with replicas. That took me to another replica forum, which later brought me to this one. Since approximately 2010, I pushed off the table on reps. It was not because they were not "accurate" enough, or did not meet COSC standards. Any of us versed in replicas know that, realistically, that is not really the allure. Otherwise, we'd stick to the genuine article. I "pushed off the table" because I got burned by an idiot member on there who sold me a lemon Concord C1 and then did everything in his power to avoid doing to the right thing. So, I just took my medicine like a big boy and just moved on. Anyway, I've been looking at the website of one of our most popular dealers - and one that I've dealt with in the past with great results - and the PAM 187 perked my interest. The particular version I observed was from the "Noob" factory. The price was just under $450 USD. So far, I like what I have seen in the photos and so forth. However, when I used the "SEARCH" function on here, I did not get much on this specific model. Thus, I have to defer to the expertise of so many replica enthusiasts here. Ultimately, my two questions are: Has this Noob Factory PAM 187 been proven to have done well with any current, or past, owners? Any recommendations on dealers for this model? You can PM me the answers, if forum etiquette dictates that certain responses may not be appropriate. Thanks in advanced for any help anyone can provide. Cheers, "B" Sends
  3. The seconds hand is important if you are timing between engine burns, if required. Also, if it's going to operate in space, it better be a hand-wound movement as the lack of gravity will render the rotor useless.
  4. Agreed. Many people assume that only "mean" SUVs driven by "rich" people use the products of petroleum. I challenge anyone on this forum to go a single day without making use of at least one critical item/activity not somehow derived from, or powered with a product of petroleum. Where do people think this energy resource really comes from? If anything, this particular situation could be said to illustrate a lack of foresight regarding the mitigation of such accidents by developing ready-for-implementation procedures for this type of situation. Yet, even then, it would be difficult. Doing anything at 5,000 feet and at 400 atmospheres would be daunting at best. Perhaps, greed was a factor in not preparing/developing equipment and techniques for dealing with this situation. But, ultimately, these things can, and will, occur. Maybe just once every 20 years, or once every 100 years, but they will occur. Contrary to popular belief, we are generations away from powering everything with "harmless" sources of energy. Until then, we are going to have to exploit petroleum and other sources currently available.
  5. Everytime I get an item from Josh - for example - it goes straight to customs when it gets here to CONUS. It may spend anywhere from two to five days there and then it continues on its way to me. I don't know where you are receiving your item, but, I can imagine that the process is similar.
  6. Wow, that's beautiful! You know, I'm beginning to see more and more posts regarding Hublot watches. A short while back, someone tossed around the idea of creating a Hublot section in the forum and it was generally thought that it would be a quiet section because there was not much chatter about the Hublot watches in this forum. I'm beginning to see that changing gradually. It is a positive change. Congrats with your awesome watch! I have the "Black Ice" version and I rock it all the time.
  7. Wow! I've purchased quite a few watches from Josh, to include the latest version of the DSSD. It has worked great. Tremendous accuracy - even for a gen - awesome performance overall. But, if he is indeed selling watches while being deceitful, that it truly wrong and should not be supported. Once you cross the line by double-crossing your very support base, there are few other boundaries you'll not be willing to cross if successful. I wonder how prevalent this practice is, if it's true.
  8. Who is selling this particular model? I have the "Black Magic" from Josh, but it has the high-beat movement. I'd like to have this color combination in my collection. Thanks in advanced to any responses.
  9. You guys are - collectively - a freaking watch encyclopedia. That's why I love to read this forum!!!
  10. I've seen talk about the V5 in TRF as well as in WUS. Except, they don't refer to it as V5 as they have no idea what one version is from the other.
  11. Do you mean that other versions - specifically V5 - have a flat-across-the-top bezel pearl? I ask because my V5 has a rounded top bezel pearl. The only thing I'd say about the pearl is that the gen has a "whiter" colored pearl. Anyway, I look forward to the new and improved versions. I can only see this model of rep getting better and better in the next two years being that it has sold so successfully. In fact, I have not seen another rep get so much attention in gen forums as the Rolex DSSD rep. Thanks for the info.
  12. To be honest, I felt like the V5 was good enough. I've had both the V4 and V5 and, at this juncture, the corrections are getting to the point of being discernable most likely only to us. But, I find that the watch fills the role just fine at V5. But, this looks good, I have to admit. The lume on my version 5 is awesome. I wonder, did I get a fluke? Honestly, my lume lasts as much throughout the night as some of my gens. Mine is the ETA version - confirmed - and keeps time to 7 seconds per day. So, no complaints there either. I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison of this one and the V5. I'm not as well versed so as to catch the small details of improvements on this one.
  13. I have the GMT II (ceramic bezel) and it does not "click". It's smoothly bi-directional and it does not click the way that a Submariner might click.
  14. I doubt that. Your "run-of-the-mill" gen owners that frequent those forums are typically not as informed as most dedicated rep enthusiasts. Many of them use the negative discussion of reps in order to make themselves feel better about their $10,000 USD purchase. I personally would not try to pass my reps off as gens on a gen forum because, as you have written, it accomplishes nothing. However, the whole "let's call him out" thing, to me, it's just a futile and dishonest for the reasons I pointed out on my previous post. If some guy wants to do that, that's on him. I only police my own watches and my purchases/trades. My exception to this rule is if someone tries to sell their rep watch as the real thing. To me, that's a terrible thing to do and I would contact the buyer to ensure he/she is doing the proper things to double and triple check the authenticity of the item. But, the whole, "calling out" thing, I find that kind of childish, to be honest. In my opinion, someone wants to "call out" people for wearing reps, then they should start with themselves and do so every time someone either compliments their rep watch, or stares at it in admiration. They should just say, "Thank you, but it's really a cheap Chinese replica".
  15. I agree. And, if inside an AD, one of the workers there try to take my watch from my wrist, they are probably going to get put in a reverse wrist lock.
  16. Honestly, it's a person's personal property. As long as they are not trying to sell it on a false pretense, I don't really care about whether, or not, someone tries to pass off their watch on a forum as a gen. Why? Because, it's a bit hypocritical to "call out" someone on it when I AM SURE, no one here walks around with the crappiest looking rep so that everyone that sees it can say, "that's a nice fake", or "that's a nice rep". There is a reason why MOST people that collect reps want them to look as close as possible as the real thing. Why? Plenty of reasons and they are different from person to person. That's the same reason a lot of folks don't like to wear a rep, even a good one, that, if gen, would be way out of their league. I've seen this comment plenty of times in this very forum: "I don't think I can wear _____ because there is no way I'd be able to afford it as a gen." Or, I've heard a variation of it. Why is it that no one ever "calls" anyone "out" on that comment alone? And, I've seen it on here plenty. My next favorite is: "Don't ever wear your rep to a gen store, or AD!" Why not? It's their property. Wear it where ever you feel like wearing it. The consequences are plenty. So, as long as you are willing to deal with them, have at it. All I care about is that some poor guy does not end up buying a rep as if it was a gen. But, showing it off, if it's not my wrist, I couldn't care less because I would be a hypocrite to get on the moral high ground when I don't walk around with a sign on my chest that says, "This Rolex DSSD is really just a good fake. But it's fake nevertheless." Does anyone here? I don't think so. If we really want to be honest, even in the way that others perceive what we are wearing on our wrists, we'd either wear our gen Rolex, Omegas and Panerai all the time - and forget the rep world - or start buying Invicta or Renato "homage" (a nice word for design rip-off, or "legal rep") watches.
  17. Maybe those had incorrect crown guards and a terrible bezel pearl and this is just an inventory adjustment.
  18. LOL. Exactly, what kind of situation is this putting you in? Are you unable to care for your basic needs as a result of these exorbitant rates? Unable to feed yourself, or the family, as a result of such a situation where you are not allowed to edit your posts as a result of the totally unreasonable $2.50/month fee? Bottom line is this: You came here. This forum did not jump onto your web browser and force you to read it and monitor it. The rules are what they are. As such, the fees are optional to the user. Pay them, or don't. But, please ... don't whine about it to the rest of us. It's not that we are mean, but ... you just got here. Take some time. Read a little and if you really, really like it, and feel the fees are worth it, pay them. BTW, we have a whole lot of awesome members here that also don't pay that fee. Welcome to the forum.
  19. I recently became a member in RWI - mainly out of curiosity - as I have seen it referenced by other members here from time to time. To be honest, there is a certain "something" missing there that we have here. I can't really put my finger on it. There is a certain seriousness about the hobby of reps, and watches in general, that resonates here that I don't find over there. I can peruse the RWG forum for hours, if so inclined, but I can't stay logged-on more than ten minutes over in RWI; I find it boring to a certain extent. Not to mention that my first, and only, member trade attempt in RWI ended up in the seller selling me an item in a dishonest manner. Although, that happens anywhere, even here (albeit, very rarely), it happened to me for the first time in my life over at RWI. I think that might have also pushed a certain bias on my part. But, even before that even occurred, I felt that there was way more depth and breadth of knowledge in this forum. It's no wonder why we have a larger membership.
  20. What's the movement? Anyone know?
  21. How's the performance of the watch? How accurate is the time keeping and so forth? Thanks in advance for any responses. By the way, great pics!
  22. I was thinking about this very thing last night. And, my best guess is yes, there will be some very significant delays. With the disorganization that will result because of the lack of air movement, I fully expect storage facilities at various customs and shipper locations to fill beyond capacity. This will further complicate the matter of packages possibly getting lost in all the last minute adjustment that will be required to store, track and prioritize the mailing of packages. As these folks get more creative in fixing the issue, protocols and procedures will be adjusted, or avoided in order to expedite the massive send-off that is to come once the skies clear. This will, no doubt, result in lost packages. Hopefully, this will not affect any members here.
  23. Let me get this right, so if you arrive at your airport with a gift on your wrist, or in your luggage - for example - you need to have a freaking invoice? Do they do the same with laptops, clothing, or other consumer items that are replicated every day all over the world? Or, it's just Panerai in France? I feel bad for this happening to you. I mean, I travel with several watches on my travels (usually as carry-on) and I've never encountered this. In the US I get interviewed every time upon arrival, but it's because my name is real common and matches that of someone they've been after for some time.
