lionsandtigers Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 followed everyones guides to fixing the crown pusher, and it worked, but it is still not working properly, so i have decieded to just purchase a new movement and save myself the headache. does anyone have a direct link for a 2836-2 that i can use in my sub? (thats the correct movement, no?) thanks guys.
alligoat Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 www.ofrei.com/ www.julesborel.com/ You still have to swap out the date wheel.
lionsandtigers Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 thanks where would i source a datewheel? i'm bummmmmmmmin
HauteHippie Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 thanks where would i source a datewheel? i'm bummmmmmmmin How bout reusing the old datewheel?
lionsandtigers Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 can that be done, cause the datewheel from my mbw is definately wider then the one on a standard eta 2836.
Bazz Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 You should not really bother buying a new movement but to fix it now you probably will have to take the dial etc off.
lionsandtigers Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 tis what i did my friend, did it all, followed the picture tutorial and all. it worked for a minute, but it just will not stay, i tested it a few times before i put the dial and datewhell back on, just wasnt having it, doesnt want to work
bruce79 Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 But it might be better to just get your existing movement serviced. A good servicing from someone like The Zigmeister will set your movement straight plus you know that it's good for at least 3 more years. The cost of the new movement is probably at least that of a service...just a thought.
Bazz Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Yea but what I am saying is its just somethings out of place... its no big deal take it or send it to someone to fix it, I just dont think buying a whole new mov because the keyless works is out is the best solution. If you do get a new one I suppose I would be willing tto take the other broken POS one.... wont even charge ya
kingkitesurf Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Lionsandtigers, It takes a bit of effort to change the datewheel but I did it and I am a beginner. A good source for new ETA's are plenty for around 80 EUR. You can exchange the datewheel... I did. Yes its wider because it is adjusted for the Rolex. But it certainly fits and works of course. You logically have to get the day wheel of the new movement and just replace the datewheel.
cskent69 Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 While you are at it - you might want to change the movement to the slower one. I think that ubi does that. Can't remember...
ubiquitous Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 While you are at it - you might want to change the movement to the slower one. I think that ubi does that. Can't remember... Indeed. Might as well take the opportunity to swap to the 2846; this one beats at 21600bph, which is closer to the genuine 1570's 19600 anyways. This corrects the sweep of the seconds hand, as one of the visible characteristics of the slow beat vintage movements is the slow, staggering seconds hand...
Heywood Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Ofrei has the 2846 that Ubi uses if you want to go that route. If you can figure what part of the keyless works works is busted I have several 28xx parts movements and will send you a replacement part gratis if I have what you need. I've worked on, I mean busted, a few of these movements over the years.
manuel Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 May I say tourbillon from this forum? He was as fast as hell. Dont forget to ask him for the spacer ring and the clamps. But you wont need those things since you are just replacing the movement. This reminds me that I have to ask him for these particular pieces.
