would any one happen to know the last production year or last year the 702 crown was featured on any 5513 sub before being replaced with the 703?

im trying to make a production accurate sub

I would think around 1980. But you see 1665's into the early 80's- late as 83- but the 16800 always had the 703 crown and it came out late 79/early 80, AFAIK. Don't know if those late 1665's and 5513's had 702's or 703's- but you would think 703's since it's a logical upgrade and we know they are used in servicing.

i have a gen insert from the late 80s for a 5513 and can also source a gen late 80s 5513 dial but currently have a 702 crown and tube... not sure if its consistent with the era im building...the extreme beveling on the crown makes it look true vintage but the rest of the watch is more modern... maybe ill do a straight up trade with someone for a vintage fat coronet 703 crown and tube

my debate now is, gloss 5513 dial or matte

My preference is the matte dial w/ maxi markers! Gloss dial with WG surrounds came in around 1984, same as the 16800 and 16660.

i agree on the matte, nothing says vintage like a matte dial.

i should of clarified my debate is a gen gloss 5513 dial for $300 or less OR a matte rep dial from say Yuki or NDT/NP about $200

the rest of my watch is a franken cept for the case/movement and bracelet.

By '83 you would figure that Rolex would have upgraded to the 703, but then again, maybe not

Edit: On closer inspection, there are no dots under the crown emblem! Both 702's and 703's have the 3 dots- for trip lock, as I recall. 700 crowns had no dots.

Looks like a 700 (no dots). Shear is (generally) a very reliable seller.

100% accurate (since it is gen).

Early 5513s (& the 5514 Comex derivative) came with either a riveted 7206 (with 80 end links) or a folded link 9315 (with 280 or 380 end links)

Andrew confirmed that it is a Twinlock. He didn't know how it got on there- either a service item or possibly an odd part from the factory.

Bear in mind, highoey, 7206 is very early 60's and 9315 is late 60's, early 70's. 93150's came out in the mid to late 70's.

For an 80's 5513, 93150/580 is correct- Shear's 5513 bracelet was a 93150/501B. 501B's are most appropriate for a 16610, but this stuff gets mixed around all the time.
