So forum member w0lf posted a for-sale of this lovely aged franken, and within 9 minutes, I'd completed the sale .. I have had a vintage itch for months, and I still want a sweet Great White, but this did the trick ..

Puretime White Sub 1680

Silver datewheel with open 6,9 & flattop 3s

OEM Rolex Triplock 24-703 crown

WSO990 triple gasket tube 24-7030

Clark 25-127 crystal

Case milled & custom retention ring by JMB

Low beat 21.6Kvph Swiss ETA2846 movement

Lugs drilled and holes buffed out to simulate wear

Heavily aged insert

Aged bracelet and case

Correct 580 endlinks

I'm thinking of a lovely folded bracelet ... whats your opinion on this?

Looks nice, only gen part is the crown?

Yes, for now. Give a guy a chance :bleh: I only got it 2 days ago

I was thinking of sending Zig an email, to see if he has time to do his famous tritium colored superlume + service and regulation on this one.

Yes the datewheel is the stock, left-justified problem .. I have a PM into FxrAndy about this, regarding his superb replacement silver dw.

Forum member JMB did all the casework for the original owner (w0lf) .. so you'd have to talk to him about cutting your case and rings and whatnot.

And Stephane, I understand that Mary from Watch International can get the folded link bracelet from the new "1:1" Josh 1655 offering .. which many people say is quite good.

Wow that watch looks good. I remember the old days when a 1680 with these specs would cost a $1000 to build LOL

All you new guys have it sooooo easy now!! hahaha

@fxr - I like what you did with the crown to make it look like the old style. Looks really good... did you do that by hand? Or dremel? Lathe?

ha ha ha

well i wasnt talking about one of YOUR super super gen frankens.

To get an MBW, then add a gen crown, crystal, insert and vintagize the dial, add springbars etc etc, you would be $900 to $1000. But yes if you want a add a gen dial and gen movement and gen bracelet like how you build them, then they get REALLY pricey!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  • 1 year later...

It's on a NATO on my wrist, of course!

I swapped the bracelet onto an MBK 1665 Franken I commissioned from Highoeyazmuhdee.

It still runs like a top and is my most comfortable watch.

Thanks for the awesome built, W0lf.
