blueradish Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 I've really had a hankerin' for a very lightly modded vintage Rollie. Just a real bare bones, inexpensive beater. Took very little time and ended up exactly how I wanted it. Mods Lightly buffed crystal with small swirls Changed polished case to brushed with simple Brillo pad Baked the hands and dial in oven at 500 for 1.5 hours. It ended up with a nice beige colour on the lume. Relumed the hands, tinted with extra brown dye to darken lume for vintage look and make it more brittle in order to have lume in hands break apart naturally. hand made "Peanut" strap Watch started out like this After Mods
Ronin Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Looks fantastic, rather convincing at first glance even.
Member X Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Dials are in the oven at 500 Fahrenheit for 90 minutes?! Looks pretty good now though Personally I'd be tempted to round of the case edges a bit but that is more time and effort... lol
Dizzy Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 Yeah i was going to say the same thing.. case needs to be dented up a little and scratched, then polished out a few times. That would be the icing on the cake so to speak. The case looks a little too "new" for that nicely aged dial. But other than that, good job on taking a very plain looking watch and giving it a lot of character!!
