Original Scope Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 O.K., Lets put Josh's vintage claims to the test. Anyone know if a 1520 will fit in a perfect clone 5513. I know it will take a gen crystal but has anyone tried a movement? Just trying to round up parts for a new build.
alligoat Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 My guess is that the crown position is too low, but more importantly, what's the point of sticking a $900-1000 movement in a $20 rep case? If you want to 'burn' a gen Rolex movt, get a decent case- Yuki, MBW, J&W, or NDT. Josh and PT are great for rep beaters, but perspective is important, if you're going 1st class, don't scrimp on cheap parts!

Dizzy Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I wouldnt bother with a gen movement but thats just me.. Gen crystal, dial, insert and maybe a gen bracelet. Cant see the movement anyways so for me, i cant justify spending the money. My only deviation from this was my Daytona project with the V23. I got a good deal on a v23 so it was a no brainer. Plus there isnt much of anything out there to replace a v23. The only copy v23 I could find was $250 and thats only about $100 less than i paid for my gen movement. I cant wait for someone to actually get one of these new watches and mod it out and see whats what.
ubiquitous Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 If the Perfect Clones 5513 comes with an ETA 2836 or 2846, fitting a gen 1520 is a no go. If the movement is a 2824, then it will fit. But as said above- There are better cases to use for a gen movement.
Original Scope Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 I agree there are much better cases. I was just curious. I picked up a 1520 super cheap and it is going into a 5514 Yuki Comex case. I recently ordered a 5513 from Josh and thought when it comes in I might see if it lives up to it's claim. Thanks for the imput.
