ryaku Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 As far as i know yes, Mary's SMP comes with a loupe effect crystal. It's still the best SMP around. No contest.
TeeJay Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Sorry I missed it till now, but that's a really nice build
Guest jsuperman17 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Loupe effect meaning it distorts the dial bit.. It doesn't bring out the beauty of the dial... If a gen or aftermarket works.. Then I'd def buy one from mary if it did..
ryaku Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I replaced the crystal in my SMP from Mary with a coated crystal from Takashi not sure though if it was an aftermarket crystal or a rep crystal. I'd bet a gen crystal fits that case.
Guest jsuperman17 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 nice ryaku!! does he still sell them? i dont ever remember him selling a smp crystal...
ryaku Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I'm afraid he had one piece like that but you never know, try to shoot a pm to Taka.
Guest jsuperman17 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Ahhhhh I guess the only way to know is trial and error...
Stefanp67 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) Picked up the 1120 for $80 and change. Put in a genuine crown and tube and bezel insert. $80 and change nice deal - i payed $350 for my 1120. Edited February 23, 2011 by Stefanp67
Guest jsuperman17 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Whered u guys get your 1120 movement? Isn't it just a plain eta 2982 with an omega rotor?
Stefanp67 Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Whered u guys get your 1120 movement? Isn't it just a plain eta 2982 with an omega rotor? First 1120 came from a member at RG and second 1120 from Ebay. Keep an eye on the different forum trade areas (RG, RWG, RWI) and Ebay and sooner or later an 1120 will turn up. As i understand Omega takes the highest quality Eta 2892-2, Rodium plates it, replaces the autowinder module and rotor with their own module and rotor and finally cosc certifies it.
Guest jsuperman17 Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Gotcha so they do a bit of adding their omega touch to it... But you got a good deal there for a 1120.. Never thought it would be that cheap..

Never thought it would be that cheap.. Well $350 for the 1120 ($700 for two 1120's) doesn't feel that cheap but i guess i got a good deal compared to that the base Eta 2892.A2 costs $230-$290 (incl Swedish VAT) at Ofrei and $350 (incl Swedish VAT) at Cousins today. marrickvilleboy Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Yeah $350 is still a good deal. They add 2 more jewels to it so its 23Jewels. I got it off ebay as well - no one bidded on it for some reason but this was like 5 years ago.
Guest jsuperman17 Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Man I gotta start a build asap... 350 for a gen movement is still a good deal.. Regardless if there is no complications... I've seen 1164 chronographs for 500 bucks on the bay...
