rhebusnet
A few months ago I was browsing a website and saw some watches where the numbers on the watch face were rotated clockwise about 45 degrees so the 12 was at the 1:30 position. The reason was so that, wearing it on the left hand, if you just glance at the watch, the 12 appears at the top. Now I've tried to find these again without success. Can anyone suggest which make and model I might have been looking at?

This one immediately sprang to mind after the description. Funky piece. Are there decent reps of these VC models?
rhebusnet
Thanks guys,. Yep that's the one I saw. Glad I didn't dream it. I did a search and it's a Vacheron Constantin Novelties Historiques American 1921. I like it but don't know if I'd feel comfortable wearing one. Justasgood
i'm not sure if this is the brand you saw, but vacheron constantin has these ... Glenn Beck is wearing this very watch on his show tonight. Love him or hate him, Glenn is a HUGE watch collector.
lhooq
Watch Eden still sells the Americans for $108 (or $88 if you have the super-secret code!). Don't be put off by the budget pricing. Novesh reviewed one a few years back, and it looked very good. Details were not exactly accurate, but held up very well in closeup shots.
RickHiC
Just a FYI, Breguet sells a very similar piece to the Vacheron as well. I don't have the model number handy, but I've seen it in a catalog.
rhebusnet
I decided to get a Vacheron Constantin Historiques 1921 in the end. My brain struggles with the offset numbers. I call it my "it's not a late as you think" watch because with a casual glance is appears to be a hour later than it really is.

Then it looks exactly right. I think they are designed to be worn like this.
