RickHiC Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Here it is getting its lume on. I wanted to see just how much I could make the dial/hands appear to glow by varying exposure and ambient light ratio. Turns out, quite a bit. No manipulation in photoshop other than some slight global contrast/saturation tweaks.
plaifender Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 (edited) that´s pretty Edited March 22, 2011 by plaifender
zorg2000k Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Nice lume, is it a UPO 5th gen or a 42m 5th PO ?
cougar1 Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Yep, thats what the gen looks like! Its really cool, you walk indoors after being outdoors in the spring sun for 5 mins and the watch is glowing, part of its great character. Enjoy it, I'll assume it's relumed, if its out of the box then I'm really surprised. Might sell my gen and get the rep
RickHiC Posted March 22, 2011 Author Report Posted March 22, 2011 This is the newest 5th gen 42mm PO rep, and it is completely stock including lume. My watch does *not* glow like that in real life. I was trying every trick I could to maximize the lume output compared to ambient light, and also I was charging the heck out of it right before the shutter tripped. Now that I have the setup worked out (you need big studio strobes or something equivalent for the nuclear charge right before the shutter trips), I think I could make any of my watches look like this. Might be kind of a fun weekend project... Exposure details if anyone cares were 1/4 second shutter, f/5.6, iso 1600.
Jkay Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 If you charge your watch with UV light (this wavelength band is what excites lume) you don't have to have a powerful white lamp ..
