usmctowgnr
Just picked this up for 40 bucks. I hope it is a 700 as I have a tube for it and it would look great on a 5513.
gimme
Probably not, as the price is too good to be true.
usmctowgnr
That is what I thought as well but I got the seller off a link here where a member picked up a 702 crown with tube for less.

praetor
That crown looks genuine since the coronet looks good, the pictures are blurry though so I guess he never learns. my crown and tube that I got from that auction is genuine for sure (self procalaimed wis and I have another genuine 702 crown to compare it with). It has crimped edges (a sure sign for authenticity) for the 702 crown and the tube fits perfectly. Sadly one of the gaskets broke when I was fiddling with it sighh. Thanks for the T-39 crystal: Btw, I think you forgot a dial in the box for some reason. Just kidding. It's just a mock up of what I'm going to make Edited April 19, 2011 by praetor
gimme
When you receive it, compare it with the pics in this thread and you'll know for sure.
usmctowgnr
Praetor that looks like a bk box lol what else have you been buying?
cjjoyce1
It has crimped edges (a sure sign for authenticity) DING! DING! DING! We have a Winner! Everyone worries about if the crown is correct - and the debate rages! Turn it over! There isn't a rep out there made of brass with a crimped stainless steel shell over that. Crimped? Gen! The only exception is the new 704 crown which is machined.
cjjoyce1
Also dude, from the last pic of the auction - that looks machined and stainless steel through-and-through Sorry
usmctowgnr
Honestly I really was not asking for it's authenticity. I have never seen a rep 700 crown so I really was not worried about that. Just wondering if it was a 700. I guess if it is a rep 700 then that's cool too. alligoat
No three dots under the crown means 700. 702 and 703 have the 3 dots!

What r u trying to do Joe? What is it that want to put a gen crown on? Gen crowns are THE mandatory upgrade for any Rollie rep in my view. usmctowgnr
I have a mbw 5513 that this is going on. The dial is a meters first which would date the piece late 60's do I am wanting a 700 on it. I am saving my.last 702 crown for when I find an mbw 1665. praetor
I'm planning to modify a Puretime 1665. I think MBW is too expensive for me. It's at least $400. PT case is good nuff, it's too big, meaning I can shave off just about everything to the correct dimensions =D Edited April 20, 2011 by praetor
usmctowgnr
The vintage PT watches are a great bang for your buck and turn out good. It is hard to pony up for an mbw and then spend more loot on mods. This hobby has a high price tag lol. I have a mbw 5513 I got from a great member for a reasonable price or I probably would be going the PT route as well. Still may have to go that way for a 1665 as I am having a hard time sourcing a mbw 1665.

After a gen crown&tube, crystal ,lugholes..the only advantage I see in the MBW are the CG's. I was lined out for an MBW from a forum member, but he seems to have forgotten me after our pm's and emails. Usmc...good luck on your project!
