Usil Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 (edited) There have been a few questions about the sounds coming from your watches and if it was normal or not. Here is the sound from my IWC Big Pilot Watch. It has the loudest rotor sound by far than any other watch I own. Kind of comforting. (Pugwash, how would you describe this sound?) Thrashing rotor sound Anybody else got a watch that is louder? Usil Edited October 16, 2006 by Usil
KB Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 What a cool idea, now the newbies can hear that their watch is normal. Thanks for taking the time to put this up Ken
AlexLeGrande Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Lovely! I'm wearing a Breitling Navatimer that whirls just like this, but at a somewhat higher pitch, although also somewhat quieter. I love to keep it going in the morning by holding it face up parallel to the ground and rotating my wrist to try and keep the rotor spinning. I hope this doesn't constitute watch abuse.
narikaa Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Ahhhh a clear day and a trashing rotor..................... CORRECT ROTOR SOUND .

Certainly not watch abuse...but it's not doing you any good either. That rotor freespins in one direction, but only winds the watch in the other direction.
Usil Posted October 23, 2006 Author Report Posted October 23, 2006 I'm glad somebody is having fun with this post. By the way, it was a rep and not a gen. I hope gens don't sound that bad. But like I said, it is kind of comforting. I keep it doped up on aspirin once a day to keep it's heart going. Don't want it to have a heart attack. Usil
Pugwash Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 (Pugwash, how would you describe this sound?) RAAAaaaaa...pada-pada-pada.
Usil Posted October 23, 2006 Author Report Posted October 23, 2006 I am goiing to have to Photoshop the sound to change it from pada pada pada to pata pata pata - then maybe add a highlight - padop. Usil
ryyannon Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Next step: Opening a beer bottle with a helicopter..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUvmPj9zU64 Ban-zai!
YellowHat Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 eXhilerating! Sounds like you are trying to pull-start it! Love that. Very reassuring sound...
JosePR Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 i have an old cartier pasha rep that sounds loud like that only smoother not rough sound, and the watch when new, had a loud loud ticking noise, in class the people sitting next to me would hear the annoying sound. and of course discarted my watch as a gen lol
