WM9 Dial Color

I have been meaning to post this for sometime, and I think I saw someone wearing a WM9 "in the wild" last week. (If you own an "Adjustment Bureau" T-Shirt chime in)

I have had two WM9 Dialed 16610's pass through my hands. One thing I noticed about both of them, is they seemed to have a lot of BROWN in the "Black Mix" of the paint. I predict WM9 dials will naturally age to Tropic dials.

That said, I tend to think modern Rolex 16610's paint is much more resilient these days then in the past. In other words, I don't see the same brown hues in modern Rolex dials. I also doubt a Rolex made in the last 10 years would ever turn Tropic.

I am not sure where I am going with this as it is largely circumstantial. All I can say, is I think I identified a 16610 REP from about 12 feet away based on this nuance in dial color. (I could be wrong).

-Can anyone else see the brown hue in their WM9 dials?

-Does anyone think a modern 16610 would ever go Tropical?

-Any paint mixologists out there who can educate us on Blue/Grey/Black hues -vs- Brown/Black hues when coming up with black paint? Modern UV resistance?

my wm9 v2 is black under fluorescent lighting. I think the crystal plays a huge factor, more so than the colour of the actual dial. The lack of AR makes it any color it happens to reflect.

That's my gen 16710.

It's the lack of AR that creates the effect. I can assure you, the WM9 dial is exactly like the gen.

The only way to call the WM9 out (for a hardcore Rolex expert) is to take it off, handle/examine it carefully and compare the bracelets. Gen is smooth as butter (as you know). The rep bracelets never quite feel the same... no matter what mods you do on them. It's a mystery that remains. Visually, it's nearly perfect in every sense.

I think perhaps it is a crystal/reflection thing. I have gotten too used to the acrylics and AR sapphires from competing brands I guess.

I call out wm9 by the greenish lume . But I am sure most people or even used rolex seller don't know that unless they do side by side compare
