For those of you anal enough to want your watches, and metal bands, nice and shiny, what is your cleaner/polish/preservative of choice?

I realise there are an endless list of things that could be used, but what do YOU prefer to use, if anything?

for polished surfaces I use white jeweller's rouge and a dremel. if its a small area or im just lazy, I use cape cod polishing cloths

I'm not advanced enough to have bought a dremel or polishing wheel yet. I use Cape Cod cloths.

loading the rouge onto the dremel polishing bit can get messy. I wish I had the desk polishing wheel

The last time I worked a polishing wheel was 17 or 18 years ago when I was but a lad ;) I put a satin finish on my wedding ring, and then changed my mind a few weeks later and re-polished it.

It's a rep. Just buy another one!

Jokes aside though, i live with all my scratches as it makes my watch look more used and personal. A brand new watch is just too shiny and artificial.

Could also be because i'm too lazy to research on safe methods...

Didnt say he was an 'office lad' though ;)

I have found different ways for different finishes of metal... for brushed such as a Rollie bracelet I use Scotchbrie, Grit paper and alloy wheel sealer... for polished I use Red or White rouge depending on quality and sometimes black...

I have found car wax gives a nice finish :)

Car wax? Really?

Yes mate.... I was playing around with polishing some cases and bracelets a while back and grabbed things from under the sink and in the garage... I found a bottle of car wax I had and found it gave a really long lasting lustre on polished metals... whereas the wheel sealer was sweet on the satin...

It was A1 Speed Wax Plus 3..... I bought it for the fact in was a non residual wax which didnt leave white on vinyl etc and was easy application easy wipe off... worked great on the motors... great beading and lasted 4-5 washes
