Baryonic Matter Posted August 6, 2011 Report Share Posted August 6, 2011 If I have a rep watch and I don't know what type of movement it has in it, is there an easy way to tell? Yes, I can take the back off and look, but I won't necessarily know what I'm looking at. I don't suppose it would be as simple as seeing what it is stamped on it somewhere, like A7750 or whatever. ubiquitous Posted August 7, 2011 Report Share Posted August 7, 2011 There's always little attributes and characteristics that can help determine what kind of movement is in a watch... -Whether it winds manually or not (automatic), as mechanical Seikos often do. -Winding feel of the gears. -If a date function is quick set or not; what direction the date rotates. -The date font/style of the date numerals, if the watch is unmodified. -The direction one needs to rotate a crown to set the time. -Subdial spacing or function.
