Stabo
Hi all, my first post and just a old question - which watch is the best one to buy? I want to have a big watch - minimum 44 Milimeters; and it has to be a sporty one. At least there are 3 candidates - could you please tell me pro and cons about it? First is the Ebel 1911 Discovery Panda. Read the really good review by By-Tor and looked at the members pics of this watch - really beautiful piece. Seems to be a hot candidate for my wrist! Any veto? ;-) Second is the Omega UPO in 45mm. In my eyes its a timeless and quietly watch - apart from the 45 Milimeter. Would like to have it on rubber or leather. The third candidate is the Breitling BCE - but I am not so sure about this one. Its the most flashy out of the three - masculine and a little bit obtrusive. Well, let me say I'm a little bit gun-shy about the pearls of Omega and Breitling; cause the pearl on my Sub looks like a piece of crap on the bezel. I looked after pics of the BCE in the forum and there are some pics with really horrible fitted pearls; sometimes crooked and so on. So is the pearl a real problem on these watches or are these individual problems? At least - what should be my start in the world of reps? Please tell me your experiences and your opinions! Thank you all, best wishes! Stabo

sempire
Good luck finding the Ebel 1911 Panda. It's apparently not made anymore. Tonnes of people would get that one in a snap. What size is your wrist? Grahams look great on 8"+ wrists..

chrgod
The PO and the Chronomat Evo are both excellent, yet very different. The PO is simpler and easier. The BCE is more "vintage". I have had both, enjoyed them, and sold them.. I miss both.. The Ebel is/was an odd choice. No doubt a good replication, but the design did not do anything for me. tomhorn
I own both the Ebel and BCE. The Ebel is far more versatile IMO. Can wear it with just about anything, anywhere. Both are excellent reps. If buying used, just be careful on picking up a BCE that it has the proper datewheel font. Thank you all, best wishes! Stabo Hi, The Ultimate Planet Ocean (UPO) is a great looking watch, but it has a serious flaw - the threads for the crown. Even if you do the "Trick" written here in the forum with the backwinding under pressure and then winding the crown, it won't help in my opinion. You will have to replace the crown and threads! I have the 42mm UPO and I unscrewed my crown 3 times - doesn't screw anymore - no grip -shitty metal! Regards, Bernie
