Refering to the incredible good written reviews from RWG member by-tor and the chance I had to see a REP B01, a question popped up, wich wasnt described by noone here!

A few days ago I had the chance to hold a B01 in my hands, a rep of course. The Rep had the Asia 7750 and the Rep Version with tabs integrated in the ring...not screwed, while checking the Housing of the Rep I found out, that this thing wasnt SS steel, it actually was JUST coated in a mirror glossy paint or something...something they use to coat frames, chrome aps...clearly and obviously you could see marks, overcoated, at the horns! Also I poked the Pearl out ( because it wasnt aligned properly ) and this thing fall out...while looking in the left hole I saw cupper-like( reddish ) material shining through the chrome coat.....since I own a gen Breitling with pilot bracelet... I can tell polished from coated.....

Now my question is....are you guys sure you had SS Versions? For better explanation one picture is in the attachment.

Thanx everybody!!!

I have had no issues with the ss on my Breitlings or any other reps that I can recall. Hopefully other members will chime In with there perspective on this rep.

2 Ways to check the material:

1. Poke out the pearl, normally just tucked in or poor glued,...underneath youll be able to see ...reddish or SS...

2. Just take off the bracelet and look at the horns, if the surface looks smooth( because its coated ) but still has marks, fingerprints on it, dont know how to describe it better. Youll see it there definately if its just plated, coated whatever...instead of beeing the real deal....SS.

Any material specialist on here who can verify?

Now dont get me wrong Im not saying that EVERY Bo1 is like that, the quality of our watchmakers is comparable with many gens,

just referring to the watch I saw and had in my Hands... What gets me confused and bothers me is:

Bad Housing no Ref numbers on the bracelet nor the horns but still 7750 asia...1:1 Dial, markers? Why would someone mix match that?

I saw watches beeing plated and after a year or so, depends on the wearing- frequency...the plated coat started to fade and apparently to peel off and the cupper-material started to shine through.....I say cupper but I mean brass( Messing )....

I just ordered the same model as chronoluvvv which is supposed to be 316F SS,but from my personal experience all the Breitlings i have are all SS and even my 2 TT Evos the gold still holds pretty good after 5 years.

I'm with Maxman. The Breitling reps I have are also solid SS.

Do we know where, or who, this "coated" rep came from?

I would doubt it was from any of the known dealers here. If it was, I'd be asking for a replacement!

No its not from the known dealers here....and I havent had the intension to bash or badmouth them. It was just my impression from one Rep I had the chance to look a little closer. Like everyone on here I suggested the guy who bought that thing, to give it back.

The screw-in pushers on the "plated" rep look a bit sunk in compared to the rep we're all familiar with posted by Chronoluvv.

The rep posted by the OP is (no offense) probably just a very inferior, cheap rep. Really poor quality reps are known to be plated. The Breitling reps discussed around here are definitely solid SS and of a much higher quality.

I too have ordered the same model as Chornoluv & 1976. yet to be delivered but from a trusted dealer and quality from Q.C pics is deffo in line with chronoluv's pictures, SS not plated

No problem here, I know its a very bad and poor made Rep I had in my hands....the overall feeling was just C.H.E.A.P, eventhough like I said what surprised me was the 7750 beating in there ( opened it up to check ) and the good dial appearance...

Heres a picture from the face.....saph...cristal appeared for me as mineral and had water oilspots underneath and some junk was under it, too. Maybe youll be able to see, anyway a picture of teh dial ;-)
