fna2005 Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Thinking of getting my first rolex rep. I know that DSSD v5 is sooo nice but it's too dang big and heavy for my wrist. I got the chance to try it on last week from a local rolex AD and I am convinced that DSSD is not for me.
yamahatwin Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 The 16600 SD was a REALLY good rep (called Super Sea Dweller -SSD of Noobfactory Sea Dweller - SSDv2) but the Deep Sea killed this great rep :'( So the SSD and SSDV2 are no longer available, and they are really expensive on the trading zone. I know that a dealer is trying to lunch a new Sea Dweller project but no news since 2 months. Why don't you try the classic sub 16610? Very good rep are available for this futur collector. Hopes this help
Jkay Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 You could buy a vintage Sea Dweller replica .. those are very nice and people do not question old models as much a new ones.
giobo Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/ff194/hontwatch/Rolex/Sea-Dweller/ Saw this in hont's photobucket...He said he has it available..
giobo Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Sorry i didn't know hont isn't in TD's in here... He is though in the other forums... 1
woof* Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 http://s242.photobuc...ex/Sea-Dweller/ Saw this in hont's photobucket...He said he has it available.. I do not think that watch is the SSD we are talking about. Nobody has had them for quite some time. Look for one used, or wait for the new one coming out. My SSD modded halfway to conversion to a 16660...
alligoat Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Hont's watch could be an SSD. The key is to ask him if the SN is Z539117. That's the SN on the v2. V1 was F539117.
woof* Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Very true ali...I shouldn't have ruled that out.
giobo Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 (edited) V2 or V1 this is an awesome watch..I mean if you receive the same as the pics..Great rehaut depth dial printing sel fit..With some cg modding another sanded insert and gen crown-tube set it will look awesome.. woof* Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Mine has gen crown/tube, bk dw, gen insert, lugholes/bracelet drilled for 2mm. I have a 16660 dial to be lumed yet.
blue_sphere Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Besides the pearl the watch looks really nice!
Ephry73 Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 What are the specs of that 16600? E
MJC Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Would love to find a SSD, anyone want to swap for a Bk sub c with blue ceramic bezel?
TJGladeRaider Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Personally, I like the TW Best version with the lug holes. I have several of them - built like a tank with a case back like a manhole cover. Bill
Ephry73 Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 That is the case I am looking for. Drilled lugs no engraving. E

I would have thought I'd have seen some of these on the second hand market. Post some pictures Bill if you can! I'd love to see those!
automatico Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 "Personally, I like the TW Best version with the lug holes. I have several of them - built like a tank with a case back like a manhole cover." "That is the case I am looking for. Drilled lugs no engraving." I had a couple SD from 'River' about 7 or 8 years ago that might have been 'TWB'...lug holes etc but no engraving between the lugs...and they were built like a tank (a small tank). I had one apart and it had a 3.0mm thick sapphire crystal in it. I do not remember if the helium valve worked or not as it has been so long. They were 14.65mm thick because I wrote it down in my notes. Something else...I fitted one with a used genuine case tube/genuine crown and the case tube hole had to be drilled and tapped in the case. After it was drilled and tapped, the case was very thin where the groove was machined in the case for the gasket. The case tube threads were originally the same size as a 5.3mm case tube.
Ephry73 Posted November 18, 2011 Report Posted November 18, 2011 Confirmed, gen crystal WON'T fit the SD newer cases. rehaut IS wrong. Had to try it for myself. E
