vlydog Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 I have been looking for parts to start another vintage project. I have noticed that the inserts for a 1680 seem compatible with the 1665. Is my assumption correct? A friend also said I could use a 1680 bezel on a 1665. He pointed out it would fit but there would be some difference in height. How much difference would it make? Thanks all!
freddy333 Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 The bezels are different (SDs are taller/thicker), but the inserts for the 5512/5513/5514/1680 & 1665 are interchangeable. 1

dbutlerman Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 I thought 1680 and 1665 inserts were the same. Freddy are you saying that a 1665 would cover more ofthe side of the crystal?
freddy333 Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 I thought 1680 and 1665 inserts were the same. They are. Re-read my post.
Nanuq Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 are you saying that a 1665 would cover more ofthe side of the crystal? Yes the 1665 bezel is much thicker than a 1680, so it covers maybe 2mm more of the crystal sidewall. There are different 1665 bezel "apparent" thicknesses too, by the depth of the knurling. Mine has the very rare extra thick bezel:
vlydog Posted October 2, 2011 Author Report Posted October 2, 2011 Thanks for all the generous information. B, do you have more specifics on the watch pictured?
vlydog Posted October 2, 2011 Author Report Posted October 2, 2011 Thanks B, parts gen vs rep the recipe
Nanuq Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 Thanks B, parts gen vs rep the recipe All gen and all original
praetor Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) yea, that picture was from antiquorum. It's a rare insert variation which goes all the way to the edge of a superdomed crystal. I've seen it in at least 2 examples. But most 1665 inserts are like the 5513 one. I don't know how much gen insert goes for now, but I got mine for $165 from some website (not vrf or any other forums), which I think is a steal XD Edited October 3, 2011 by praetor
Nanuq Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 That was a good price. If you want a fat fonts insert expect to pay multiples of that number.
AsiadeCuba Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 im in the market for a 1680 insert as well. and yes, you have to may close to triple for a fat font insert. its insane
freddy333 Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 That was a good price. If you want a fat fonts insert expect to pay multiples of that number. Ditto.

That'd just look wrong. Double ditto on the fat fonts... pricey, but worth it IMO.
Ephry73 Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 While on the topic of bezels, is the Yuki 1665 bezel the correct thickness? I see them for $169, but doesn't seem that correct for the unique 1665. E
