the_rymeister
Hi guys I'm looking at buying this movement and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it was genuine Swiss eta 2824-2 or if it was a clone. These are the only pictures I have From the seller. probably cost me $80 usd delivered from hong kong to uk. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. redwatch
I don't believe that it is. The shock absorber mounted above the balance looks wrong to me. It is an Incabloc Shock system. The 2824 should have a Novodiac Shock system which has three points on it. Here is a close up of yours: This is what it should look like. Also take note of the timing regulator. There is a small slot screw between a fork that you turn to adjust the speed of the watch. Your movement just has a needle.
slickdick
Looks perfectly genuine to me, offcourse it isnt a new movement .
PhilFree
I have to agree with redwatch that the movement doesn't look genuine.
kbh
It's an older gen. My mid sized Tugaris below has the same movement. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the movement.
FxrAndy
Ditto it is an older Gen pre y and excenter adjustment adjuster
the_rymeister
Cheers for the response and great knowledge guys, would you say this would be better than the 2824 movement which would have come with my upo rep? if so I will purchase it as its fairly cheap Cheers Ry

FxrAndy
Be aware that an old movement even if brand new ols stock will more than likely require a service before it will perform to its best due to the old oils deterioating and becoming gummy reducing movement of all the moving parts

krpster
All gen., older but Gen. As FxrAndy said it will require service to get the best performance.
Noel Fleischer
Wow- just to show how hard it is to tell gen vs. rep mov'ts. The shock absorber ring theory doesn't always hold up. One dealer @ RepGeek gave up trying to decide among the newer rep mov'ts- unless you tear them apart, you can't be sure.

Only the Novodiac spring has 3 notches. Older Incabloc (this version (in original post) was introduced in 1997) have the tabbed spring shown in the original post.
