calatrava Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 I just received this Paul Newman Daytona with asymmetric pushers, panda dial, and Seagull ST19 manual wind movement in the mail, and wanted to share a wrist shot. 1
danielv2000 Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Congrats. Enjoy her. She looks real nice. I'm thinking of trying an ST 19 while I wait to complete my silver dial V72.
Ephry73 Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Silix dial? The ST19 is a sweet time keeper. Mine is running strung(St1902) at +/- 5 secs a day and use it almost twice a week. E
thogaa Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 where the watch come from? +1 Where did you get that?
calatrava Posted December 26, 2011 Author Report Posted December 26, 2011 This is from Mary (watchinternational), but the cartel dealers also carry it.
McClane Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 Gorgeous. Can you post more pics, please? Thanks for share it
calatrava Posted December 27, 2011 Author Report Posted December 27, 2011 (edited) Another wrist shot, but higher resolution. And some of the original QC photos. Edited December 27, 2011 by calatrava
japanic Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 I've always loved these vintage daytonas. I was thinking about purchasing one for my father's birthday (a 6265 or 6263), but the conflict I have is he has a rather large wrist and usually wears watches in the 42-45mm range. Do these wear small? I've heard the modern daytona wears small for a 40mm and most specs say this is a ~38mm diameter.

These watches are on the small side, the vintage Paul Newman Daytonas measure about 37mm. Since the bezel takes up some space, the dial is quite small, which makes it look smaller on the wrist than even the 37mm would suggest.
thogaa Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 How come the lower subdial doesn't look too low on this one?

You can always wear it on a Bund strap like Paul Newman did and this will more than make up the difference. I like the fact that these are tool watches first. Period. E
thogaa Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 Surprisingly great on my 7 3/4 inch monkey wrist
calatrava Posted December 27, 2011 Author Report Posted December 27, 2011 How come the lower subdial doesn't look too low on this one? Because, if you look carefully, the subdial at 6 is smaller than the other two. Sneaky...
kingkaiser Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 To the daytona freaks in RWG - how do you think this one compares to a spinmaster build (assuming no gen parts)?
jellytots Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 I'm no daytona expert, but the biggest tells to me for most daytonas are still the dials. (inner tachymeter markings, font shape size etc) Again, just my own lousy opinion (null)

thogaa Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 This one fooled me. I noticed the lower sub dial wasn't bleeding into the minutes and correct spacing between the top ones. It's hard to tell that the lower subdial is actually slightly smaller. Still don't get why they just move the lower hand and make the dials like gen. That would be a killer rep for the money 1
jellytots Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 Maybe it's got to do with being able to sell more if 'improvements' are released in stages rather than coming out with the 'ultimate' on the first try. Kind of like software? - planned obsolescence - they earn more by slowly releasing v1, v2, etc than giving you that ultimate v20 straightway. That or these vintage models aren't exactly their bestsellers and hence not worth that much effort in QC. (null)
thogaa Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 Can you do a close up of the dial. I've asked my dealer and he says the dials haven't changed
thogaa Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 My mistake. I compared to the wrong one on Josh's site Here's the right one: http://www.1-pc8838.com/0rldv00108-6263pn-ssss-white-asian-venus-p-10138.html
ebzen02 Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 While not a PN, this one is the most acceptable of the cartel vintage daytonas..imo..
