calatrava Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 These are QC photos of a Vacheron Overseas Deep Stream. Any comments or observations would be greatly appreciated.
hackR Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 looks good to me...mine was mailed a few days ago!
dluddy Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 Looks good to me! Ordering mine tomorrow
FxrAndy Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 Does the gen have the date window suround?
Watchmeister Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 Is that an improved date wheel since the original overseas?
calatrava Posted December 24, 2011 Author Report Posted December 24, 2011 It's from Tony (asian7750). The gen doesn't have the shiny bevel around the date window, and the change in the date font is due to the use of a clone 2836-2 instead of a Swiss ETA, and is not an improvement over the ETA date font.
mt666tm Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 I'm on the fence about this one. I really want it on the grey leather, but a few things are holding me back... Post pics when you all get yours and maybe I'll see if Tony can hook one up for me too.
hackR Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 to all those planning or considering to buy: you can buy this watch with the ss bracelet and then add the dark grey strap w/deployment...just ask Tony for both... R- @Andy -- no, the gen doesn't have the date window surround...it does have a slight bevel in the dial's date window...am pondering taking the dial off and seeing if the date surround has pins to fasten it or whether its simply glued on...either way, it looks good with the date window, too...same goes for the date font - looks fine to me...afterall, how many people have actually seen one of these in the wild to even know!
PhilFree Posted December 25, 2011 Report Posted December 25, 2011 (edited) The font on the date looks to be a bit to thick, also the date window on the surround is incorrect. However, I don't think many people will notice these imperfections. I just noticed that the numeral 3 is not correct, but again how many people will notice this. Edited December 25, 2011 by PhilFree
Adeodatus Posted December 25, 2011 Report Posted December 25, 2011 I think it's a very good rep. Some minor imperfections, but overall a very good rep. Wear it well!
calatrava Posted December 28, 2011 Author Report Posted December 28, 2011 I'm tempted to get this cheap quartz replica as a caseback donor. The caseback is excellent. http://www.timesshop.net/vach-constantine/2440-vc3564---vc-overseas-white-dial-ss---japan-quartz.html
kingkaiser Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 Erm -to the OP: Does your caseback say "Antimacnetic"? not sure if thats just lighting or a genuine typo
calatrava Posted December 28, 2011 Author Report Posted December 28, 2011 Erm -to the OP: Does your caseback say "Antimacnetic"? not sure if thats just lighting or a genuine typo Yeah, that's a typo. The new casebacks for the VC Overseas are crappy, which is why I was considering buying the quartz VCO just for a donor caseback.
hackR Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 I think it's a very good rep. Some minor imperfections, but overall a very good rep. Wear it well! a couple more differences... 1) the second hand is thinner on the gen then rep 2) the accent on the "e" in "Geneve" is absent on the rep
mbjoer Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 I'm tempted to get this cheap quartz replica as a caseback donor. The caseback is excellent. http://www.timesshop...pan-quartz.html If you do, make sure to ask them first if it is still the same case back as on their website. Then make sure to get a QC picture before they send. Timesshop is not good at updating their site.
calatrava Posted January 12, 2012 Author Report Posted January 12, 2012 Okay, I've finally received the watch, and even with the flaws, it's an amazing watch, the dial is simply stunning. My sincere thanks to Guru for tracking down this watch, and finding the one dealer who was willing to source this. Now for the obligatory wrist shot.
txcollector Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Does the gen have the date window suround? no Is that an improved date wheel since the original overseas? it seems like it
txcollector Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I'm tempted to get this cheap quartz replica as a caseback donor. The caseback is excellent. http://www.timesshop...pan-quartz.html The caseback won't fit. You may try to mill the caseback and remove the center medallion and transplant that. That's a LOT of work though.
calatrava Posted January 12, 2012 Author Report Posted January 12, 2012 I think the date wheel difference is just due to the use of an Asian ETA clone instead of a Swiss ETA. The caseback won't fit. You may try to mill the caseback and remove the center medallion and transplant that. That's a LOT of work though. Yeah, I guess you're right, the screw holes are more asymmetrically distributed in the higher-end replica.
