pete g Posted January 31, 2012 Report Posted January 31, 2012 HI, I RECENTLY BOUGHT THE ABOVE MOVEMENT. IT CAME WITH A CIRCULAR METAL RING. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT THAT RING IS FOR? THANKS ALL,
specialvat Posted January 31, 2012 Report Posted January 31, 2012 Can you take a pic ? Is it a blank date wheel ? Pic would help id it.
horzs Posted January 31, 2012 Report Posted January 31, 2012 It could be a ring to put around the back side of the dial to keep the date wheel from rubbing, it will have two small indents on the inside which line up with the dial feet. Or it might be the washer that fits over the hour wheel
Ronin Posted January 31, 2012 Report Posted January 31, 2012 Generally you have a dial spacer to keep the datewheel from rubbing the bottom of the dial. You also might have a case retention ring for securing it to the case. Finally, there is often a small "washer" that sits between the dial and center wheels that drive the hands. That should sum up any extra loose parts.
pete g Posted January 31, 2012 Author Report Posted January 31, 2012 SO IT GOES OVER THE DATE WHEEL AND THE DIAL GOES OVER THE SPACER? ALSO, CAN I USE THE OLD STEM AND CROWN FOR THE NEW MOVEMENT OR DO I HAVE TO CUT THE NEW ONE TO SIZE? AS YOU HAVE PROBABLY GUESSED I'AM GOING TO ATTEMP A MOVEMENT SWAP. ANY TIPS TO MAKE THE ATTEMP SUCCESSFUL? THANKS AGAIN.
kbh Posted January 31, 2012 Report Posted January 31, 2012 Swapping the same movement you can use the old stem and you should have a dial spacer in place when you take the dial off the old movement. You'll see how it works.
pete g Posted January 31, 2012 Author Report Posted January 31, 2012 OK, GREAT, WAITING ON THE MOVEMENT FROM COUSINS. WILL POST BACK. THANKS GUYS.
