lantis
...and a long deserving BUMP. Look what I found! A time capsule! Sorry for the thread digging. This is a very good read for those who are just starting out with reps EDIT: To the veterans, don't go getting teary-eyes now...
plaifender
A classic thread. Yeah.. I think it's interesting to look at the advances in quality and design that we've seen since The Zigmeister posted this 5 years ago!!!

I think it's interesting to look at the advances in quality and design that we've seen since The Zigmeister posted this 5 years ago!!! Yep, the Hfactory pams and a7753 come to mind. Would be interesting to read Zigs updated thoughts now with these inclusions.

HPoirot
This is a wonderful write up for members like me, who joined during the 'Golden Age' of reps. Debatable though.

panerai153
We truly have come a long way. But in some respects it's still one step forward, half a step back and two steps to the side. Why does it take 5-6 editions of a particular watch to get it 98% right? I sort of skimmed through the posts, but it's sort of sad to me to see the names of so many folks who were very active back in 2006, who are no longer around. I suppose this hobby like all others is cyclic, folks come and folks go. lots of enthusiasm at first, and then at some point it starts to wane. www_watch
I hope what we have today will continue and get better, but I fear that things are going to change in the next few years…maybe for the worse…especially when ETA stops selling movements… To make a long story short: It did continue, it did get better, the fears did not come true and last but not least: ETA couldn't spoil it. freddy333
Another of Ziggy's old tech threads that I am bumping mostly because it shows where we were 10 years ago & how far we have come.
