ImWatchingYOU
Great compare on the watches! I got the older 16600 dweller which they stopped to ma ufacture, and was told to be a super rep. Might put this one on order just for a backup!

Navik
For me one of the easiest tells with this rep is the very large gap between the end links and the watch itself. Take a look at the picture from my rep below (sorry for the quick and dirty iPhones pics). I still haven't changed the pearl nor the crystal (if it's even possible to fit a gen crystal?) but what's really bugging me is that gap. My version is the one that they referred to as "the new superlumed sea dweller" - to me it looks identical to this "ultimate" version, I guess they are the same watch. Mine also has the wrong crown guards, bad pearl, too high crystal, and what no one seems to mention - the bloody huge gap between the end link and the watch itself. I took a shot and passed it of as a gen to a colleague of mine, he compared it to his 14060 but surprisingly he never noticed the bad pearl. However, he did give me a weird look when he saw the gap... I have read somewhere that a noob sub bracelet with polished sides on the bracelet can solve this problem - haven't tried this though. On another forum I have seen someone showing a pictures of this TC v2 bracelet on this rep, didn't look good either imo. Besides the obvious tell of the pearl and the bracelet gap, I think this is a very good rep. The case is of high quality, and with these tells fixed I doubt there will ever be many that will call you out. The lume glows like a torch and glows a long way into the night. I have the Asian 2836, and it works fantastically. If anyone knows how we can "tighten" this gap, please share!!
woof*
The one I had in my picture above did not have the gap at all like yours does. If that was mine, I would try a few different bracelets on it. Just tolerances off from unit to unit in the rep world.

A friend of mine has the same rep and the same problem. I kind of assumed all of them came like this. Do you think the gap occurs because of the bracelet and end links, or because of different measures in the cases?
joedoe
Anyone knows if its possible to replace the crystal with a more gen like one?
Gw4k
Anyone knows if its possible to replace the crystal with a more gen like one? I am going to try when I come back from my cruise. Was also waiting on my digi caliper to measure the lip for the crystal
woof*
One member replaced the crystal with a gen crystal. He had to glue it in though. No good solution for this.

Did he test for "waterproof" after the mod? One of the strengths of this rep is we can swim with it.
woof*
It was about three or four months ago, here on rwg. He did a complete teardown with photo's. He showed the two piece rehaut. Sorry, I can't remember who it was and I don't know about waterproof. As I said, no good solutions for a crystal swap that I know of.
realwatch
Great post. Anybody know how the $128 model compares with this, much more expensive one, but which claims to be more exactly matching... http://www.trustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_8&products_id=9086 ? cndz
How would I go about swapping the bezel insert? I ordered an aftermarket one but as I understand it, i cant "snap" the insert in the place of the old one but I have to glue it in? Is there a decent tutorial? Unless your replacing the insert with a gen I don't think there's any point. You might consider just changing the pearl with a Watchmaterial pearl for an improvement. Use a dental pick or similar and pick at the pearl until you can get it out. To remove the whole insert, heat it up with a hair dryer softening the adhesive, then using the hole the pearl was in...just lift off the insert...very easy. I replaced the insert with a gen insert on this watch for a friend recently. The gen needed a tiny bit of sanding to fit.
JohnDorian
Very easy to remove the bezel but do it carefully and with a towel underneath to catch any flying parts like the click spring. Just use a butter knife wrapped in a microfiber towel or a plastic knife or spoon. Use force but don't warp the bezel itself.

Really?
JohnDorian
Still waiting for it, but is there something special about the bezel on the ultimate that is different from other Rolex reps?
woof*
Still waiting for it, but is there something special about the bezel on the ultimate that is different from other Rolex reps? It is not gen construction. Many of these reps are made to be assembled, not taken apart. Most of that type will result in bent bezels if bezel removal is attempted. JohnDorian
Ah so it has a weak bezel ring? I wonder if it will take an aftermarket replacement? If that is the case getting a real bezel remover is probably the safest way.
duke1973
The bezels on these SD's are a PITA to remove. The older super sea dweller was the same, most modders won't even attemp removing the bezels from the SD reps for fear of damaging/bending it. It's a very tight compression/snap on fit and very hard to pop it off and even harder to pop back on. The bezel on my SSD was stuck and wouldn't rotate so I sent it to PBDad for a relume and asked him to try and fix the bezel issue for me. At first he said he wouldn't mess with it because of this known problem but I convienced him to try it and if it messed it up I wouldn't hold him responsible. He said it was a bugger to deal with but he fixed it!
woof*
Yep, like the noobs. I removed a bezel from one, bent it, then straightened it out in a vice. After I got it back on it barely turned. My SSD is the only watch I own now that doesn't have gen construction, I'll never remove its bezel and there's no reason to.
