Loving your outlook TeeJay! Think they're right about the lugs tho' :)

While I am coming to appreciate some 'stock' items, I've always prefered custom. The other day, I had to refinish a Sony iPod docking speaker wifey liked up in a yardsale for £1.50 (minus power lead and remote) It works fine, but had obviously taken a bit of abuse as the lacquer finish on a few of the corners had been chipped. I used modeling putty to rebuild the lines of the case, and then planned to recreate the look with black Plastikote and a clear coat. After wetsanding the black paint to prep it for the clear coat, I really liked the matte finish (which by coincidence, blends nicely with the plastic foot/contol panal) so I decided to keep it matte, and then wrapped a 2-3 inch wide strip of mahogany-effect vinyl around it so it would blend better with older furniture. Now I admit, it may not be to everyone's taste, but I like it (wifey and inlaws were suitably impressed too) so I always say if you want to go custom, go custom :victory: As for the lugs, I've got to respectfully disagree with my compadres... If the watch is going to be worn on NATO and be subjected to the abuses of active daily wear, fixed lug bars will keep the watch on the strap way better than sprung bars would. Sure, I know that with a NATO both spring bars have to fail before you lose the watch, but with fixed bars, that's just not going to happen at all :whistling::good::drinks:

I thoroughly respect your creative streak! I have it too. Maybe that is where it stems from. Have you checked out iron on vaneers? Strangely they aren't much more than plastic!

Well back on topic, the "irreversible" bit is the killer for the lugs. I can't do it to what is pretty much my favorite watch. The reason I like it so much is it is Rolex quality without having Rolex on the dial plus it just screams out "tool watch".

Well all my guesses are gone, good luck to the rest of you :)

Am bored of the game now. Answer was DC57 Damasko. Amazing thing. They have the patent on ice hardening watch cases. If it hits a brick wall then the wall just crumbles :) Definitely recommended x 1000,000.
