I purchased a Clarks 127 and it took some shaving to get it on. Since most of the gen parts wont fit reps does anyone have an idea of an easier to install crystal than a tropic 127 for a 1680?

thanks in advance

I bought it on the forum so I dont know for sure the dealer. I had to shave the insides of the clarks crystal and apply pressure for it to pop on. I'm wondering if I need a diff size crystal. I was given info that on my 1016 I need the T19 rather than the T22 the gen takes so I thought the 1680 might be the same way.

All the 1680s i know that have Gen style bezel (MBW and Cartel short CG versions) constructions take a clarks crystal with out issues,

Along Andy's line, you can rule out the MBW and the short cg cartel sub. So that means you have a cartel sub of some other origin and fitting a gen or decent aftermarket crystal is hit or miss. I don't know of any other crystal that fits. You could try the various T-19s that Ofrei use to carry, one of those might fit, but then you'd be w/o a cyclops.

Buying a set of calipers from Harbor Freight would be another good idea and start measuring. Then you at least know what you have. At that point you can check ODs and IDs and compare.

If it's a PT model then the inside of the crystal skirt will need to be shaved or the OD of the rehaut reduced.

Wouldn't you need a new crystal retention ring also J?
