I found one gen bracelet, but it was the gold electroplated one. Now, the plating is very damaged, is it possible to remove it and polish the bracelet to turn it to steel? Is the same matherial of the normal ones?

May the 557 endlinks be changed with other ones?

Thank you everybody!

Very difficult to polish the bracelet to look like stainless, which it is, because the tiny part on the center links where it attaches to the outside link is impossible to reach with a polisher. However you can clean the bracelet really good, by putting it in boiling water for about 5 mins, and then rodium plating it. That rodium plating done correctly seems to last forever.

as for changing the end pieces, yes they can be changed by seperating the links next to the end pieces, sometimes very difficult to do, but can be done. Good luck

Thanks, I read somewhere of using quicksilver to remove the gold plating, or using dentists tools, but I think it's cheaper to buy a gen steel bracelet...

Gold foundries often use an acid mixture to dissolve the gold plating off cheap jewelry.

You could try soaking it in vinegar or lemon juice, unless you've got something stronger...
