cyphion
So after a lengthy wait, my 16710 case is finally here. Looking at everything, I think that it looks pretty good. It has the small crown, guards look good, bezel looks good, dial looks really good, and the hands look good. So needless to say I am pretty happy. Now I'm just waiting for the movement to come in, and then off to PB for the assembly and work. So, what do you think, is it a solid base? Everyone's input is greatly appreciated. Mind the lint There is plastic on the insert Any and all input is greatly appreciated. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

sneed12
That's the MBW kit? The dial is pretty good. That's the hardest part to source right now, I wonder if they'd sell it separately.

That's the hardest part to source right now, I wonder if they'd sell it separately. Yup, via Reg. I'm not sure. I wanted a complete watch, but they don't sell it anymore because the 2893 is so much money. So they sell the kit as a complete watch minus the movement. The writing on the dial is very crisp, and as you can see its very glossy. The dw cutout is done well also. justlounging
wow..that's looking really really nice... are the hands for the 2893 movement ?
cyphion
From what Reg told me...yes. Essentially, from what I understand, it is the old MBK one that they stopped a long time ago, just minus a movement. AsiadeCuba
I'd love to see that case next to the new superlumed explorers to see which one has correct thickness on the case
w.genzo
Looks good, but the bracelet serial # is incorrect. Does it have a gen style bezel assembly? Could you please measure the thikness of the case? Thanks
cyphion
I have one of the superlumed explorers at home. I'll take some side by sides tonight. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
cyphion
Here are the comparison shots of the 2. The Coke is the Explorer II. The case back on this one isn't flat, but then again neither is the on on the explorer. I just got notice today that my movement is sitting at the post office, so now I'm just waiting on the DWO, and then everything is off for assembly, case softening, and possibly lume. But...what does everyone think. I think it looks pretty good, but just needs the flat case back. Thanks in advance Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 Edited September 22, 2012 by cyphion

Could you please measure the thikness of the case? Thanks Yeah I know that the bracelet is wrong, so are the endlinks, I'm ok with it, because I would rather a jubilee, so It will be up for trade or sale soon. As for the bezel, I am not sure, and would rather not take it apart, but I can ask while it is away, and get an answer when it comes back. As for the thickness, I put the comparison shots up. woof*
I meant to ask, what type of bezel construction does this have? Because it's MBK, it's possible it's gen type?
cyphion
I haven't taken it apart yet, but it feels pretty good, and I don't see the o-ring on the top of the rehaut, so I would assume that it is, but I will get answers on that once it is apart. blue.
Nice details, for sure! The hands look pretty good too. Wish you success with the whole assembly so the final result is as expected.
ta8088
Case looks good. For a drilled lug hole 16710 shouldn't it be a SWISS-T<25 dial though? Can't recall ever having seen a SWISS MADE dial in a drilled lug hole case.
superlative
Comparing it to my gen S-serial 16710the crown sticks out a little too much and should sit lower on the casedial is incorrect (Maxi dial) for that particular case with the lug holes (should be SWISS - T < 25, non-Maxi)your Coke Explorer II has better position lug holes and the proper sizesince it is a Maxi dial, the "GMT Master II" should be printed in green16520 bracelet is for a Zenith-powered Daytonaend pieces should be 501B and without those notches (since this is a lug-hole case)
JoeyB
The no-holes case began in 2003, and the Superluminova 'Swiss Made' dial was used from 2000 - 2007. Solid end links started in 2000. According to: http://www.gmtmasterhistory.com/gmt-master_ref_16710.html
By-Tor
[*]dial is incorrect (Maxi dial) for that particular case with the lug holes (should be SWISS - T < 25, non-Maxi) Very common misunderstanding but not true. Lugholes, SELs & SWISS MADE (super luminova dial) is accurate for the 2000-2003 watches. I wanted that exact model myself. Mine is a K-serial (2003).
