How to brush lugs

Recommended Posts

Hello,

can anyone explain me how I can brush the lugs of a case?

I already tried a nail file, but I wasn't totally happy with the result it was to shiny.

How do you get good results, what's your workflow and which tools do you use (grit) ?

I know the factories use special machines for that finish (don't know the English name for it).

Thanks a lot!

Thank you for the advice!

Do you have any advice on the angle is it always the same?

And do you brush before or after you polished the sides of the case?

I brush after I polish the case, carefuly. That's why I go from the inside out. Use around a 30 degree angle. The blue file board leaves a very desirable look. change the angle as you go down the lug to around 90 degrees at the very bottom

I use this most of the time -> "Bergeon 5444-B satin finish bar Medium". It's sort of a rubberized block with grit embedded throughout the compound, works very nicely. I have the coarse as well but I use the medium most of the time.

I second the 600 grit.
