superlative Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 (edited) I got my Yuki 9401 dial a few weeks ago and considered to send it back since it was such a light blue colour. I was hoping that the dial was a little darker (French Militaire blue) so that it would match my Classic Watch Parts bezel. I decided to bake the dial at 400°C and this is the result I got: I'm really pleased with it. Not only did baking make the dial appear darker and duller it also bubbled up the lume and made it appeared aged. I think it looks great! All I need now are hands. The Yuki hands are way too long. krpster Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 That looks...super I am interested to see the rest of your build.
Nanuq Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Take a look at these.... http://bit.ly/SbJqf3
redwatch Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Looks great! Any before shots so we can see the difference?
superlative Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 Take a look at these.... http://bit.ly/SbJqf3 I'm banned from buying from WSO. He sent me a lot of crap and incorrect parts on the last order and refused to accept a return. I had to get PP involved with a dispute. He's a douchebag, no? Does anybody else in North America sell white lume Tudor Snowflake hands? Looks great! Any before shots so we can see the difference? All you have to do is go to Yuki's site and compare.
superlative Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 I managed to find some yellow ( ) hands. I think white ones with the same baking treatment as applied to the dial would be much better. I also added a spray of Tremclad clear coat to the dial to give it some texture. I wish somebody made a proper 9401 case. I'm currently using the Josh/PC 5513 case.
superlative Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 Here's a combo you don't see everyday.
GBOGH Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Here's a combo you don't see everyday. With good reason.
superlative Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 Cool strap. Where did you get it? I made it. The rubber strap was on a deployant that I simply replaced with a Tudor clasp. With good reason. I agree. It's on a Oyster bracelet now. Speedz? Your standard 2824 at 28,800bph.
woof* Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Glad that worked out Super, I like mine the light blue that it is.. but I know why you didn't as most gens are dark blue.

superlative Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 Speedy? It took about 30mins at 400°C in the oven to get the effect. I kept on checking it all the time. YMMV!
