  1. Interesting to see if it's the same version as the Yuki 3135 teardown here, http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=36061 ...if it is, the concensus was that it is crudely finished, but seviceable, it will accept gen hands/dials/datewheels and the benefits of having the correct crown rotation for hand/date setting which has always been the flaw in using ETA based movements...
  2. THE family of a 56-year-old father who died of a suspected heart attack in Thailand have paid tribute to “one of Ynysybwl’s most colourful characters”. Robert “Bobby” James, who was born and bred in Thompson Villas, Ynysybwl, will forever be remembered by his siblings and mother as a “loveable rogue” who turned his small watch stall on Pontypridd Market into a global business. The father-of-three, known affectionately as “Bobby Watches” by many, lived in Greece before moving to Thailand four years ago to start an internet business. Sister Tracey Evans described her older brother as “one of a kind” - a modern-day Del Boy figure who was larger than life. She said: “He idolised his mother. Whenever he would come back to Ynysybwl he would come over, and all we could hear between the pair was laughter. “He was a free spirit who lived life on the edge. He would take a chance on anything and had the guts and courage to do what he wanted. “Sometimes he would work 18-hour days with his internet business, and he built up customers all over the world. “One day he would be a millionaire and others he wouldn’t have a penny to his name. That’s how he lived his life. “It’s a horrendous time for the family. We try to pretend he’s still here just to cope.” Robert first began his working life as a car salesman with his father, but enjoyed the Pontypridd Market atmosphere through watching his grandmother Louisa James (nee Parker) – a local legend in the trade. Many remember Robert with his briefcase full of watches in one hand and a cigarette in the other. One of the village’s fondest memories of Robert was in his teens pulling up to Mill Street School in his father’s Jaguar. “He would always buy Christmas presents on Boxing Day,” Tracey added. “We would all sit in the living room as we looked at all the boxes with ‘sale’ stickers plastered all over them. “He idolised us all, but he loved to make a quick buck. “A few decades ago, he was selling shell suits in the ’Bwl. The whole village seemed to be wearing the same clothes.” Robert’s cousin, Gary Owen, found a Methodist church in Thailand where they held a service before cremation. But his family in Ynysybwl are hoping to hold their own ceremony in 2012 and bring back his ashes. His mother, Annie James, said: “He knew everything about watches, and he must have started driving at 10 years old. I can still see that lop-sided grin he used to have to stop himself from laughing.” His friend Clayton Jones said: “Bobby truly was one of the village’s great characters – always with a cigarette in one hand and something to sell in the other. “All those I have spoken to recall his easy come, easy go approach to life and his knowledge of geography from his travels far and wide. “We send his mother, three sisters and family our thoughts and condolences at this sad time.” Read More http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/south-wales-news/pontypridd-llantrisant/2011/12/29/tributes-to-one-of-ynysybwl-s-most-colourful-characters-bobby-watches-91466-30025099/#ixzz1hwmTP0mx
  3. ...enjoy... http://elfyourself.j...nt?cmpid=ey_url
  4. ...and now on a lighter note... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rozHlnmZ6jg
  5. With no papers or provenance it would be sure to get pulled, at the end of the day this is just a watch cobbled together from spare gen parts,, a nice watch maybe, but the repainted dial tips it as being considered a true 'fake' imo...plus I agree totally in what OS posted above and feel that Nanuq's tenure at TRF may be short lived as a result of all this...
  6. Santos 100...great rep, extreme quality, gen Swiss too (SW200)...
  7. IMO the dealers should only be dealt with when their actions impact on us, the buyers. In this instance it hasn't, so let them fight it out amongst themselves, the cartel dealers, in my eyes anyway, are mostly tarred with the same brush anyhow. @Dave, Greg was one of the good guys, I'll even go out on a limb here and say that by his action, selling reps for next to no profit, this is the main contribiting factor as to why we are seeing more realistic prices these day's... Finally, as I recall mate, you asked to leave at both RWG.com and RWI...correct me if I'm wrong...don't confuse plain speaking with kool-aid talk Dave, you've been good at both over the years...
  8. @admin...I've had a pm and been asked in the actual thread who I sourced this watch from, he's not trusted here (but is elsewhere) so am I out of line if I respond?
  9. Ahhhhhhh, you're soooooo predictable Mickey my boy, even when I didn't mention 'he who shall not be named' you just couldn't resist using that silly pulling tounges emoticon...why? Methinks you have some serious issues... You mention price...this was the cheapest I could find it shipped to the UK at the time, as far as I'm aware it still is, it's really that simple. You also felt the need to push THAT dealer yet again? Come to think of it, you aren't trolling my posts are you? Although this is getting tedious and spoiling my thread I feel the need to reply to some of your points though... Firstly, thank's for enlightening me about the Sellita SW200...eggs and sucking springs to mind... Secondly, no, you are wrong, this is actually copied and pasted from Tony's site, ' Nickel Plated, Cortes de Geneve Decorated Insignia Rotor , Swiss Eta 2824-2 Automatic Movement. 25J , 28800bph '...who knows, maybe he does have gen ETA available in this watch, however, experience tells me these are normally a special order...but a Sellita is a Sellita, an ETA an ETA, to say any different is untrue... Thirdly, regular airmail is $15 according to his website...unless there's a special 'discount' code or something I don't know about? Lastly, being in the UK I just walk into the bank, pay into the specified account, so no charges for me thank you, plus no chance of your details being stolen on the interweb...so, in my case at least, it's actually more secure and convenient than normal...result! Hopefully this will give another perspective on your statements to any who read this thread...no doubt you'll feel the need to try and twist the facts above, it's your usual MO...remember this isn't me speaking up when you bash a certain dealer, it's just a thread showing rep lovers a quality watch they mightn't have considered before... @Sorry for all that nonesense above MrB...you own an ultimate XL as well? Outstanding watch, isn't it...I was blown away by it's quality which is why I posted this across the boards. By the way, here's the link to the watch Mary had on offer, http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4576&hl, the tells are plain to see, the font used on the dial, the case back sits flush in some places, raised in others and the X-XI spacing... I'll check out your link mate, I'm sure you far know more about this model than I ever will... By the way, I don't see the point of buying a rep box set either...
  10. Yes, it's supposedly nearly as good as the $1500-$1700 1:1 rep with gen movement...a member at another forum bought the super rep version but stated that if this was available at the time he wouldn't have bothered...This guy knows his Cartiers too...if you need to know the dealer, seeing as he's not on the 'trusted' list here (he is everywhere else just in case you're worried) you'll have to pm me for the info or look for my threads on the other boards... Nope, Mary's is $360, but it's an inferior version, you can distinguish it by the ridge-line on the caseback and various other 'tells', she can source this watch but her price was higher than I paid when I enquired... As far as I'm aware Tony's version seems the same, not sure about his claim of 'Swiss 2824' though, for $369 plus his more expensive shipping...I paid $349 with gen Sellita...a bargain imo... Firstly, I won't mention the dealers name here as I don't want to be thought of as a 'shill'... Secondly, I don't want this thread crapped by your views on him either MP, please bear this in mind if you feel it neccessary to comment...
  11. This Santos 100 is the dogs [censored].I paid £222 GBP for it shipped regular airmail to the UK, by far the cheapest price I could find. It allegedly accepts gen parts too but I can't confirm this as of yet... It arrived within 5 days all the way from Thailand! It uses a Sellita movement so it's guaranteed to be gen Swiss too...it's about 44mmm wide including the crown by 52mmm lug to lug, I have 7.5'' wrists and it fits me great...and it's oh so comfy too! I was going to buy a Pam 288 but when I enquired with my favourite dealer he asked if I'd thought of one of these as in his opinion the build quality is second to none. I'm glad I took his advice, it's awesome, you ALL need to get yourselves one of these babies...
  12. ...you're slowly running out of forums Dave...mind you there's always tropical fish... I'm too much of a gent to tell you 'Told you so' back in 2008...sh*t...I just did... Is Nembo a kung fu killer or something, he seems to have taken your tiff personally, jeez, these forums are for rep watches, not exactly end of the world stuff... By the way, it's good too see you admit you made a mistake or two along the line, hopefully you've learned this time mate...
  13. http://cgi.ebay.ph/CLICK-SPRING-ROLEX-BEZEL-INSERT-16610-16800-PARTS-/180436158152
  14. Hmmm, MP you're digging a hole here. Most dealers here and everywhere else used to sell 'clones' as Swiss, offer waterproofing services that weren't done and some even said they didn't dropship when it has later been proved they did...and remember that was through the forums not iOffer... edit: @Ken, this is my last post on the matter...
  15. All I can give you is my opinion on he who shall remain nameless by me as promised. Faultless on all my transactions to date. Also there are countless happy customers all over the rep forums. To state that these other boards aren't looking after their memberships by letting him deal there, is, quite frankly, an insult to the staff who run the other boards. Maybe he's upset a lot of people here, who knows? I can only voice my opinion and like I said earlier, this thread was very one-sided. Perhaps because of MP's tiff and him having a slanging match with By-Tor over at RG. Maybe he's mellowed and changed his selling practices these past years, when exactly did the disgruntled posters here last use him if ever? Anyway, there are two sides to every story, I've given mine and plenty have given theirs. I'm sure the OP will make his own descision on whether to use him or not. Bobby...
  16. Agreed...and the other dealers?
  17. Soooo, all the other boards let him get away with it, is what you're saying? I don't think so, really, they all seem to look after the memberships interests to me...maybe I'm wrong and you two know better. Anyway consider this the last post on MY experiences dealing with PWC/T4D...
  18. ...as I said , no offence intended...peace...
  19. He's British, from Wales actually, so his English isn't half baked...for the record it was TTK who sourced them, followed by Narikaa (nymph's) and it was Pug who coined the phrase 'noobmariner'...not BK... @MP...life's too short mate...let it go...I used to be the same about Josh/Andrew but have managed to move on. @By-Tor...I think there were crossed lines in the RG thread. A wonky cyclops is a QC issue true but one that can be rectified by the dealer's service policy. You wrinkled PWC's feathers by telling everyone in your review thread to buy Reg's product. This in turn prompted him in correcting you that the crystal and lume had been upgraded and it wasn't the same old F520117 noobmariner. He called you a Turkey and the slanging match ensued, that's how I read it anyway. At the OP, if you know the exact watch you want, follow his payment instructions which are quite simple and don't bombard him with questions you'll get a great watch at a cheap price delivered fast...that's my experience when I've bought from him anyway. I have no agenda, am a member on all the boards and have used most of the dealers in repland past and present. I just found this thread very one sided and decided to speak up, no offence to anyone intended...peace...
  20. This is my last post on the matter Ken. I feel my silence after this post will prove that I'm not trying to stir anything. At which point in my initial post did I ask a question, I've looked real hard and still can't find one? I simply made clear to any who were uninformed as to exactly where this 'new forum' (as it was called by CS) formed from .com's ashes in 2008, had its roots, no more, no less. Regarding 'pot stirring', again, anyone who cares to back track and read my posts will see that I, like you Ken, were both concise and polite too. The member who decided to change the threads tone is plain for all to see. I can sort of understand his reasons, as maybe he wasn't aware that when Replica Watch Guide and Replica Watch Group ran as seperate entities on the internet for some time, that one was always referred to as RWG2, no malice was intended then and none is now. Anyway, I didn't mean to ruffle anybody's feathers, as all the rep boards out there each have their own merits and share a common goal, to prevent newbie’s from being scammed and a place where like-minded watch lovers can gather... Peace Ken...
