rolojack Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Here it is on the Bay now, offered by a long time trusted seller we all know.... But somehow this dial looks odd to me. Deep subdials grooving, lack of texture, size and font of the RC, design of the "3" in the subdials, "swiss" font, etc.... What do you think? Watch is gen, no question about that : It's the dial that bugs me. http://www.ebay.com/...=item53ed719546
freddy333 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Yes, dial is not genuine. Looks like someone went a bit overboard enhancing the dial patination.
rolojack Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 Ah, I'm not crazy then !!!! If it isn't genuine someone will soon be sued under civil law....
whoever Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 That means the guys sells a 900$watch for 52000$???????? I should quit my job!!!
Guest zeleni kukuruz Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 That means the guys sells a 900$watch for 52000$???????? I should quit my job!!! Yes, he sells a dream for 52000$ and when the buyer wakes up its going to be a nightmare that he wished he never payed for!
Laser3000 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 sorry, that isn`t a 900 $ watch, is a 6k watch, perhaps build by Phong...the movement looks like his work
janeto72 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 yep......replica indeed....lawsuit
alligoat Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 No, the movement is fine- it is gen and there's nothing wrong with it- it even has the spring for protecting the hairspring- PN 6610 which was added on the 722-1. Often it is removed in later servicing. Color of all the gears is correct, mounting screws are in the correct positions.
janeto72 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 dial is a rep......everything else is ok.
rolojack Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 Yes, as I said earlier, the watch is undoubtly gen : case and movement. Only the dial is fake. That makes it a 20 to 25 k watch intead of a 50 k watch. Quite a difference indeed, but still legit on the market if priced fairly with a gen sigma dial on the side....
freddy333 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 but still legit on the market if priced fairly with a gen sigma dial on the side.... Price has nothing to do with legitimacy. It is only legit if the seller discloses the fact that the dial is not genuine. He can price it as he sees fit.
rolojack Posted October 1, 2012 Author Report Posted October 1, 2012 Yes Freddy, of course. I meant that the watch is legitimately sellable on the open market if described properly.... The seller can of course ask for any price : he just won't sell it if it doesn't reflect the reality of the market. There is hope for 50 k with a PN, but not much with a standard dial...
Laser3000 Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 I don`t think movement is gen, I think it`s very good work but not original, the colur of the train wheel bridge is not original. If you are very patient and spend a lot of money you can get a nearly perfect 727 with gen parts and correct 21600 BpH which has nothing to do with the "standard" 727 movements Phong shows on his homepage...and this one is in my opinion a typical Phong movement for his "special" customers.
rolojack Posted October 1, 2012 Author Report Posted October 1, 2012 If you are right, that could mean this respected dealer is either naive or dishonest.... Scary!
rolojack Posted October 2, 2012 Author Report Posted October 2, 2012 I know, to me too it's gen... I still believe only the dial is fake....
janeto72 Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 722 movemnt is gen. There are some variations depending on year manufactured and parts replaced during servicing. The rest of the watch 100 % gen except for the dial.
tabularasa415 Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 Looks like someone left the dial in the oven too long. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
