Sbybbuser Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 Here's my DRSD 1665 done by pbdad. Mod done by pbdad: case and bracelet aging insert fading gen crown cg shaped lug holes drilled for 2mm springbars 2mm springbars aged dial markers and hands painted indices (no lume)
freddy333 Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 The date window looks a bit weird (too small & odd shape) & it suffers the same issue as your EXII (obvious sanding marks all over the case). But, otherwise, looks good.
Sbybbuser Posted March 14, 2013 Author Report Posted March 14, 2013 good observation on the date window.
Ephry73 Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 The bevels can be added to the date window, them refinish the dial. Wear it daily and without fear to get the aging.

panerai153 Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 I agree with the aging, artificial aging often looks just like that, artificial aging. i quarantee you, I can wear one for a year, and it won't need any other aging. just normal wear will do it. Also agree with the date window. Here is mine with a very similar dial to Freddys. When you use a genuine movement and DW, there are no alignment problems. I believe that you have a very nice watch, It would definitely profit from a better dial. Here is mine, just for Date window comparison. I think the problem with yours is there are no distinct bevels, and the corners are not hard beveled corners like the genuine dials. This old watch has been worn pretty hard, I wore it everyday for a long time, still wear it pretty often.
Sbybbuser Posted March 15, 2013 Author Report Posted March 15, 2013 Yes, i think the next thing to do will be getting a new dial. Thanks for the advices guys. I'm only a noob in vintage rolex. Definitely need to learn from the masters. Thanks
highoeyazmuhudee Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 agree with date window, antiquing something is definitely an art. just wear it rough for a year or two
Ephry73 Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Look at this for comparison. You can see the outline of the bevel of the date window.
