ww12345
If you like the Glenlivet 18, try the Macallan 18. It's really good - better than the 21 even...
cjjoyce1
I love the Macallan, which is why my bar is currently devoid of it right now. I went through withdrawal after they stopped making Cask Strength which was my all time favorite.
ww12345
Oh, really? Yeah, I had some of that and it was great! Too bad they don't make it anymore. Try the A'bunadh cask strength - closeish, but not exact. I don't think you'll be disappointed though.
Nanuq
Mmm... Nothing beats a Laphroaig on a cold day. Especially when served by a naked wench in a fur parka. Perfection.
ww12345
Wait... If she was naked, why was she wearing a parka? Btw, currently drinking the Balvenie 12. And in rare form - with branch water and ice. So damn hot here in So Cal (we're spoiled; it must remain between 65 and 68...)

ww12345
Haha - hot for me - if it gets into the mid-70s I start breaking out the G&Ts and the the mojitos... Also, that pic - not bad. Haha
Nanuq
"Hot" he says. And this while the akkevit is freezing solid out on the deck?!
ww12345
Yep. Believe you me - there are days I long for an icy bit of weather (though I know I would probably be absolutely miserable!)Should I post some "Rolex on the Beach" to counteract yours in the snow, Nanuq? cjjoyce1
I'm new to scotch, but drinking Auchentoshan American Oak now. A nice place to start. I've introduced many friends who "don't like Scotch" to our world through Auchentoshan. Light, sweet, easy to like. Auchentoshan is also a great value IMHO. sebastianxxx
Spent a few days in Edinburgh, stumbled upon this place called the "Scotch Whiskey Experience" on the Royal Mile and never looked back... Generally prefer Speyside whiskeys - Aberlour 10 is my usual, though also enjoyed A'Bunadh very much, appreciated WW123456 tasting notes - the Sherry Cask certainly impacts finish. Speaking of - keen to try the Japanese whiskies... the Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 was just named the World's best.
the_kevster
Any recommendations about where to go next? I really like jaimesons and can't seem to get the taste of scotch - any recommendationson what should be next??
ww12345
Balvenie is pretty smooth and similar to a Irish whiskey... Also try some Speysides - they tend to be a little bit less harsh (for lack of a better term. Also, while a lot will consider it sacrilegious, don't be afraid to try it with some branch water and/or ice. Might be just the thing to turn you onto proper Scotches...

Tiyal
Oban Distillers Edition is the good stuff. Any given night, chateau Roc Levraut Bordeaux, Serria Nevada when it's hot. Bumper
I don't have much experience with scotch, Johnnie Walker black label is a regular, blue label when I can afford it. I also like Glenlivet 18.Now this will sound weird, but try it: Johnnie walker red label and lipton sweet iced tea, about 1 to 6 or 1 to 8 ratio. My Wife made this up, she can't take scotch neat (how I take it), so she made this up, I love it, nice even buzz.Regards
