Nanuq
Good morning gents, I'm looking for some gilt hands. There's a lot of information here so let's see if we can summarize it in a thread? Silix / Raffles sell gilt hands for DG/Miyota movements but the minutes hand is short - it doesn't reach the chapter ring. CWP has very nice gilt hands (the best?) but they only fit gen or ETA 2824. What other options are there, if I want a full length minutes hand for a Miyota 8215?
panerai153
Hey hammer time,Is the Miyota the omly option? i was thinking that if it fit, a 2846 would allow a better range of choices. I really like CWP's hands, I got a set for my 7924 and should Iever find a better dial for it, I'll get another set that isn't quite as "Aged"!! Nanuq
I don't know if the ETA would fit, I believe the case is Silix's Milgauss ROLS234 (?) If that would work, I'm home free.
dluddy
I've used Clarks hands on ETA's - not sure if they would fit the Miyota or not
Nanuq
I've used Clarks hands on ETA's - not sure if they would fit the Miyota or not Yeah that's the problem, they only work on ETA. Not DG or Miyota. So will the ETA fit this case?
freddy333
If the hand holes are (a bit) too small, you can broach them larger. If they are (a bit) too large, you may be able to reduce them with a staking set.
Nanuq
I just bought a set for ETA. The hours hand is correct, minutes is 90 and I need 100. So I need to enlarge it. Can you step me through it if I don't have the tool? I'm thinking a very long thin needle will let me incrementally open it up until it fits over the minutes shaft? You need a set of broaches, which are basically small, circular files that you rotate within a hole to enlarge it (click pic for link) The process is much easier if you secure the hand in a hand holder (click pic for link) I posted an illustrated mini-tutorial 4-5 years ago, but it must have gotten removed during 1 of the system updates. Nanuq
Thanks. I have a watchmaker buddy at the AD who might tackle this for me.
freddy333
Most watchmakers should have a set of broaches on hand.
