clem2192 Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 Any movement specialists able to help... I have got my heart set on a gen cal. 3135 movement for my TC 16610 Sub build, there is currently a NOS cal. 3135 movement on the bay that I am considering placing a cheeky bid on but says 'needs a service' as has been sitting and not running. Trouble is its right at the very top end of my budget already so factoring in a service would blow the budget completly. My question is would it really need a full service if it has never been in a watch or would it run ok and 'loosen' and 'free' up given a bit of time ?? Ryan
marrickvilleboy Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 If its not running - it will most definitely need service. Not really such thing as "breaking in" period. A service would put you back another 400-600$ 3135 (in working condition) sell for over $2K so you do the math
mymanmatt Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 Lots of reasons for it not to be running, some of them very costly. I would at least try to find a working movement. Then a minor service could do the trick
tomhorn Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) You'd be better off finding a Yuki 3135, with gen dial and hands (in more ways than one). Cost certainly, and it would look better than having a gen movement with rep dial and hands. Edited September 26, 2013 by tomhorn
