Seller in Pakistan with 98% rating after only 62 sales, who claims a Swiss-made 7750 in an obviously bottom-end rep case. & you believe that? I would be very surprised if the movement was properly functioning upon arrival & not surprised at all if it was made considerably east of the Swiss border (ie, Asian-made).

Never personally had an issue buying parts from India/Pakistan, managed to snag some nice Vintage Gen crowns in the past. Agreed on the case Fred, its truly dreadful.  I guess i can always request some movement stampings pictures to see if it is indeed Swiss. If it is a swiss valjoux 7750 I guess its value depends on what needs doing to it. How  much was DW charging for his Asian secs@9 modded movements?

Forgot to ask Fred, has that 280Z  got a custom metalic Orange flake paint job

Stampings aside, always buy the seller 1st, & nothing about that sale/seller inspires confidence. In fact, everything points in the opposite direction. But your experience may vary.

I was not aware that DW was selling modded movements, but you may know something that I do not.

The ZX's color is Mahogany, which was 1 of the original, standard color options (fyi - Paul Newman raced a ZX &, separately, owned the same car (& in the same color), but opted for the removable T-top)

I replaced the standard 65w halogen headlight bulbs with 75w (off-road racing) rallye bulbs (which produce a whiter, longer beam), & added an auxiliary input jack to the radio so I can play my ipod. Otherwise, all stock. I do not mod my cars.

Lovely car Fred! I remember when the 280s were the go-to car for GT racing. Light, nimble, great balance and so simple to work on. I always wanted to get one to race in. Thanks for sharing. E

Me and a buddy shoehorned a Ford 289 v8 into one of those decades ago. Wowie! We made up some custom badges for it, 289Z.

Not to hijack this thread too much, but when I rebuilt the motor a few months ago, I considered swapping it out for a small block V8. But, ultimately, decided to keep the car stock to maintain its value.

Good idea! Stock is best but if you were to do a swap wouldn't a sr20det make more sense? I used to have a 300zx it was fun

If I was going to upgrade to a V8, I would probably have gone with a Ford or Chevy engine, which are cheap/powerful, produce a great growl & are a popular mod for Zs. But, since the last thing I would do with a restored classic (non-race car) is drive it aggressively, the issue is all academic.

True. It's a beauty and I can just imagine the feel you must get when driving it. Love the old Nissan/Datsuns
