Hello all,

I understand this must be a variation on the classic " Best Sub" Question, however, I am trying to find a good, if not the best out there, Rolex Red Sub, Vintage 1680. Have any of you had any luck? Any suggestions or direction would be a huge help.

Btw, I am noticing a big flaw on some are the silver/metallic date roll....weird...so I am trying to avoid that.

Thanks all in advance!

Thanks Nanuq, If I had found my answer in the search, which i obviously didn't, I wouldn't have posted the question. Thanks for the thoughtful direction though.

My dear GWP, it is quite common to find a "Red" model 1680 Submariner from the early 1970s with the silver date disc.

:winkiss:

Really? so you're saying the Authentic Red subs came with the silver date disk?

I'm confused...I took a look at all links and I don't see a silver date wheel on any of the pictures....

Really??  Look again at the first link.

And now, look at the description, which I copied and pasted below:

 Model: 1680 red

Overall condition: Very Good
Bracelet: 93150, recently brushed - great condition and very wearable. Comes with 593 ends.
Dial: Amazing original creamy MK VI dial. Small blemish at 6. Amazing dial, one of the best I've seen.
Bezel Insert: Thin font insert with dot intact, glows very, very faintly.
Date Wheel: Original silver date wheel with open 6 and 9.

It's really hard to tell from the pictures. Some have a strong radial brushed look, others look like almost a matte silver background. Here's my GMT from the early 60s and its datewheel has a strong radial brushing, yet the pictures barely show it. It's really hard to capture in a picture.
